They feel stronger, leaner, fitter and more mobile than ever before. Our INTRODUCTORY OFFER is $39 for two weeks. We utilise our proprietary testing protocols to assess your current abilities and develop with you, your short and long-term goals. From there we can map out your path to success. Over 50’s, high school athletes and teenage girls……… what do they all have in common? We believe that these three groups are often overlooked in most commercial gyms, because they all require a tailored approach. Over 50’s – take control of how you age, it’s never too late to start. Quality nutrition and age appropriate exercise has been shown to slow the aging process and reduce the risk of illness. Unfortunately in the minefield of fitness solutions available few understand that an older body can be more easily injured or perhaps doesn’t move the way a younger body does! Peter Fernley is an exercise scientist with over 30 years experience. He has spent a lifetime developing age appropriate exercise programs for his age group! High school athletes – get the jump on the competition? Our programs focus on improving your athleticism, through developing your strength, speed and flexibility. Athletic development for adolescent athletes is more than just adapting an adult training program; it requires an awareness of their physical and maturational development along with the knowledge of the training adjustments required to achieve their athletic potential. LFH – lean, fit and healthy – training and nutrition designed for teenage girls. We are often concerned at the methods that many young girls take to lose weight, or live up to an unrealistic body image. Our programs teach sensible nutrition and provide fun, age appropriate group training sessions to help you safely and sensibly reach your individual fitness goals.

“Eat Well”

A fresh, crispy, tangy summer salad.

Beetroot, Apple and Carrot Salad

Ingredients

• 400 g raw beetroot, peeled and cut into quarters (approx 2 – 4 medium sized beetroots)
• 100 g carrot, cut into pieces (approx 2 med – large carrots)
• ¼ red onion (approx. 45 g)
• 2 green apples (approx. 95 g), cored and cut into quarters
• 2 - 3 sprigs fresh coriander, or Italian parsleyp, leaves only, to taste
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 20 g lemon juice (approx. ½ lemon)
• (An alternative to the Lemon Juice is to use a similar quantity of Apple Cider Vinegar)
Method
• Place ingredients, one at a time, into a food processor, or Thermomix if you have one. Blend for a few seconds until finely chopped. Empty into a salad bowl and repeat until you have chopped each of the 3 main ingredients. Apply dressing and then garnish with coriander or parsley leaves.

This year our challenge should be to make sure we eat healthy, nourishing foods on a daily basis, keep ‘Treat’ foods to a minimum. Add to this the need to move daily, in as many different ways as possible. Keep it simple with both food and exercise. Simple nutritious meals with lean protein from a variety of sources, lots of vegetables and some fruit. Walk, run, swim, paddle, strength training at the gym, gardening and housework are all exercise activities that are easy to do.

“Eat Well, Move Daily, Hydrate Often, Sleep Lots, Love Yourself, Repeat for Life”

This little mantra is one of our core philosophies at Body Language Personal Training. At this time of the year, taking the time to reflect on the underlying health message of this mantra can go a long way to help all of us achieve our health goals for 2022. You will notice that ‘Eating Well’ and ‘Move Daily’ are at the top of the list and the concept of weight loss is not mentioned. Our focus should be on developing the habits we need to lead a healthier life rather than too narrow a focus centred around weight loss.
