Little Rose is not so little anymore 💛 So many of you found Tahi and Rose when she was tiny, raw, sore, and deep in the hardest years of her skin story.
I can barely believe she is 15 now! She is so full of empathy, grace, awareness - and gratefulness.
Grateful for being able to swim in the salt water. For bandage free days. For energy. For sleep. For all the things we never realised were so important until we lost them.
We often talk about her healing years, her journey that affected all of us in our own ways, and although she doesn't wish it on anyone, she says she wouldn't change it.
It has shaped her more than anyone will ever truly understand. It has shaped me in ways I didn't know were even possible.
These days, her skin is nothing like it was back then. It's not perfect though. Her immune system still has reactive moments. Flares still happen. Travel, allergens, weather changes, stress, hormones — all the usual suspects can still ask a lot of her skin.
Recently, while travelling the WA coast, her skin needed some extra love while her body adjusted to new environments.
The routine was simple and familiar:
• Wet wraps for comfort and moisture (and a chance for her skin to heal overnight). Clean damp skin + Skin Saver, a zinc layer when needed, damp layer of cotton under bandages for instant relief and moisture repair.
• Internal support with our favourite supplements, tailored to her immune system and individual needs.
• Keep it clean, diet, bedding, finger nails + staph levels. Increase her hydration and reduce her triggers as much as possible.
The funny, beautiful thing is that even though she’s old enough to do it herself now, she still likes me to help sometimes.
She said it reminds her of being little — not in a scary way, but in a “my skin is getting extra love” kind of way.
And honestly, that undid me a little.
This balm began in desperation, but over time it became something softer too.
A ritual.
A memory.
A way of saying: your body is safe, your skin is loved, and we’ll take this one step at a time.
