Nothing to see here!

Pssst, Gale/Allan, I’m not sure what the plan is but here’s a head up! If you’re thinking you can close down another iconic pub and hope nobody notices, you are sadly mistaken..May I suggest getting on the front foot with this one! Maybe a media release so people planning their snow holidays can account for any short comings as far as food and shelter is concerned in the alpine region’s…trying to cater to visitors from just VC’s , the skiosk and the day visitor centres would be just plain irresponsible

Now is the time!

Whilst there is finally some recognition and government acknowledgment with regard to the inefficiency’s of our Alpine Resort Management Boards, is not cracking open the champagne just yet...the devil in the details surrounding this proposed resolve is still very much at large and until such a time that we know more about it than the “management spin” that was afforded to stakeholder groups last week, this should be approached with extreme caution. Since this announcement I have had the opportunity to liaise with some of our highly regarded alpine community members from most of our Victorian resorts who share some of the same concerns. The most prominent topic of these conversations is that stakeholder input is going to be key in the success of our resorts beyond 2022. So what does this mean for Mt Baw Baw? Well in short, the Labor Government is cleaning house and I strongly suggest that at Mt Baw Baw, we do the same! I refer to Mt Baw Baw Stakeholder’s Association. It is long overdue for a review as to how it best represents our mountain, most would agree that for sometime this representation has been questionable at best. I mean anyone that has attended a meeting over the past four years would be familiar with the quote “we just need to tread water until the SARMB is reviewed and replaced”? This type of lack lustre representation is just not going to cut it when the reality of this resolve comes to fruition. Even the “vine ripened relationships” that relinquished rewards for a select few will noticeably unravel and simply become another c***k in our armour...The cessation of the Chamber of Commerce last year was partly based on advice that the MBBSA was in the best position to represent all stakeholders, clearly as our larger resorts are moving to strengthen their representative platforms, I feel the loss of our chamber will prove costly going forward. Now is the time to act, we need a much stronger representation, one with the best interests of the whole of our mountain and its surrounds, one that is prepared to cover everyone’s back and not just their own, now is the time to include “off mountain” businesses and services as part of this representation, now is the time to strengthen our representation and be ready for 2022.Now is the time to speak up!

Hey Allan and Gale, A ministerial position just opened up!Just remember these three little things at the interview...I don’t know, I don’t recall and I was unaware! You guys would fit right in and if either of you need a referee, tell Dan to give me a call...

Could this be a new snow clearing truck heading to Mt Baw Baw? More positive signs of change at the resort...Never mind it’s August! A big tick ✔️ also this week for fitting chains from chain bay 2, this takes a lot of pressure off the road and resort entry. The next step might be to initiate a traffic management plan for chain bay 2 enabling the staffing of it during busy periods...this may also result in fewer front wheel drive vehicles with chains fitted, becoming stuck on wet bitumen at Winch Corner, one of many contributing factors to the unnecessary congestion on the resort road. Keep up the good work 👍

Positive signs involving appropriate staffing and structure at our local resorts, let’s hope that this brings with it a shift in attitude towards risk management at Mt Baw Baw.
