🏁 RACE 4 – COOK CLINCHES THE WEEKEND IN STYLE! 🏁

The final Improved Production race of Round 2 started before the green flag even flew, with James Benford unfortunately unable to make it to the start line. A prompt response from the recovery crew and officials ensured the race started on schedule, so a huge shoutout to all the volunteers and officials who keep the show running smoothly. πŸ‘πŸšœ

When the lights went out, Scott Cook off pole leading over Mark Garnett to take control of the race. Once in clean air, Cook was able to manage the gap and bring home another victory. πŸ†

Highlights of the race was the battle just behind the leaders, where Anthony Norris got a ripper start in the nimble Datsun 1200. Norris found himself locked in a fantastic three-way fight with Samuel Bird’s Subaru WRX and Trent Houkamau’s Mazda RX-7.

If anyone needed a reminder of the variety in Improved Production, that battle delivered it perfectly. Steven Campbell soon joined the fun in the BMW E36, turning it into a four-car scrap that kept everyone entertained. πŸ‘Š

Meanwhile, Andrew Cogan put on one of the drives of the race, charging the V8-powered BMW M3 through the field after his Race 3 woes to finish just off the podium in fourth.

Unfortunately for Matt Kelly, his race ended early after a mechanical issue saw the BMW stranded in the sand on the exit of Turn 13. The race finished under the control of the Safety Car

A fitting end to a weekend that had everything: rain, sunshine, safety cars, interstate visitors, rotary power, V8 muscle, turbo Silvias and even a Datsun taking the fight to modern machinery. That’s Improved Production racing at its best. ❀️🏁

🏁 RACE 3 – SILVIAS SWEEP THE PODIUM! 🏁

The track was finally dry, and the Nissan brigade made the most of it, locking out the podium in Race 3. πŸ”₯

James Benford got the jump at the start, while Andrew Cogan’s BMW M3 failed to make the grid due to ongoing mechanical gremlins. By the end of the opening lap, Scott Cook had worked his way to the front, setting up a Nissan Silvia train at the head of the field.

Cook crossed the line first and, despite receiving a 5-second penalty for a start line infringement, still had enough margin to take the win. πŸ†

WA visitor Trent Houkamau continued his impressive debut weekend with 4th place in the rotary-powered RX-7, while Samuel Bird brought the WRX home in 5th.

Further back, there was no shortage of action with strong battles between Matt Kelly, Ramzy Rabah ( #888), Anthony Norris and Bird keeping spectators entertained throughout the race with Bird fighting back to a solid resultπŸ‘Š

Three races. Three different winners. One race to go. πŸ”₯🏁
