We're a few rounds into the season. Check in with yourself.

5 signs your in-season S&C program isn't working:

1. You're more fatigued at round 5 than you were at round 1
2. The same injury keeps flaring every few weeks
3. Your speed and power have dropped since the season started

Pre season is not just about getting fitter

It is not just more running, more conditioning, more volume

One of the most overlooked qualities is change of direction and agility

And this is the best time to build it

Without the pressure of games, without the fatigue of in season, you have the opportunity to actually improve how you move

Decelerate with control, change direction efficiently, and re accelerate with intent

This is what creates separation
This is what keeps you in control
This is what allows you to actually use your speed

Because in sport, moving better beats just moving more

If you cannot control your body, your fitness will not save you

Build the skill, not just the engine

Most athletes think strength is just a number on a bar

It is not

Strength is how you produce force, how fast you produce it, and how well your body handles it under pressure

That is what actually transfers to performance

At Axis, we test this in pre season, not guess it

We use force decks, Nord board, and force frame to break down exactly how an athlete produces force, where they are strong, where they are slow, and where they are exposed

Because two athletes can lift the same weight, but perform completely differently on the field

Testing gives us clarity, and clarity gives us direction

So instead of running a generic program, we build a plan that targets what actually matters

Reduce injury risk, improve performance, and prepare for the demands of the season

If your pre season conditioning is just about getting exhausted, you are missing the point

The goal is not to see how tired you can get
The goal is to move well when you are tired

Because that is where games are won and lost
And where most injuries actually happen

The athletes who perform late in games are the ones who can
Repeat speed without losing mechanics
Control their body when changing direction under fatigue
Recover quickly and maintain quality across every effort

That is what this is about

Repeat sprint work to stay fast
Multidirectional work to stay in control
Aerobic work to keep showing up when others fade

Sauna is not just about relaxing after a session.

It is a tool we use with purpose in rehab.

When programmed properly it can support recovery, adaptation and overall performance

Heat exposure has been shown to increase growth hormone which plays a role in tissue repair and recovery
It drives blood flow which helps deliver nutrients and remove waste products from working muscles
It supports the nervous system by reducing stress and helping athletes shift out of a constant high alert state.

For injured athletes this matters.

It is stress, frustration, load management and consistency over time.
