🏏 Saturday Match Results – Week 4
A big weekend of cricket for MDU with strong performances, big partnerships, and plenty of fight across both grades. Here’s how the teams went 👇
🔵 MDU 1 (E Grade) – WIN by 83 Runs
A commanding display from MDU 1 with a complete team performance. After a tricky start, the innings was rebuilt through a crucial 86-run partnership between Afzy and Tom, followed by Abin’s explosive 24 (14) that lifted the total to 165.
The bowlers took over from there — Varun struck in the first over, Anoop claimed 3 wickets, and Sandy & Tom picked up 2 each, dismantling SE Caulfield for 82.
Some brilliant catches from Sinish, Praveen, and Sandy added to the pressure and sealed a strong win.
💛 MDU 2 (H Grade) – Lost by 33 Runs
A match that slipped away after a brilliant start. Retheesh and Sridhar opened with exceptional spells, reducing Washington Park to 4/40, supported by sharp catching from Retheesh and Deeraj.
Divyansh continued the momentum with 2 wickets, and at drinks the hosts were struggling at 5/69.
However, 45 extras proved costly as Washington Park rebuilt to 160.
In the chase, early wickets hurt MDU, but Mridul and JK showed great character with a 51-run stand, followed by positive intent from Retheesh and Sridhar late in the innings.
Despite the result, the fight, attitude, and key moments of control showed what this team is capable of. Plenty of positives to take forward into next week.
