Nonagenarians compete in Narrabeen Lake Marathon on Sunday.
Billy Martin and Brian Graber both in their 90s will take on all comers in the MWKC Narrabeen Marathon this Sunday. Both are wily characters who have paddled for most of their adult lives so watch out for “buoy room” calls and some “power” wash riding as they paddle the challenging course.

To quote Billy Martin at our recent MWKC birthday bash.
“How old would you be
if you didn’t know the day you were born
Open the window and smile
Toast each sunset with wine
Then don’t let the old man in”

MWKC paddlers age from under 12s to these guys. Across all ages our paddlers are on the water, keeping fit, active, social and competitive in a friendly way. Males and females from beginners thru to World Champions and Olympians. Come and join us, take a look at our website for club details

It’s not too late to enter the Narrabeen Marathon supported by PaddleNSW as part of their series, on this Sunday Sept 13 for 5, 10, 15 and 20km courses. I’ll put the link in comments to avoid those pesky algorithms.

Narrabeen Marathon Sept 13 Sunday
Members, I am sure there is an unwritten rule, hidden deep in the DNA of the Manly Warringah Kayak Club constitution that ALL members must participate in our very own home marathon on our Lake.

I know you are busy, appointments, other sports, holidays, family, the garden are all calling you. But! think about it, you joined our club so you can paddle. Participation and some friendly competition and bragging rights are calling you.

The link for entries is here and the early bird rate closes this Monday with final entries closing midnight this coming Wednesday. You can do 5km, 10km, 15km or 20km. Fast and furious OR at your pace. We also need volunteers which you would have gotten an email about. Even half an hour to help set up, run and knock down. Myall Classic Sept 19

The Myall Classic is a major multi-distance event on the NSW paddling calendar. It is held on the Myall River at Tea Gardens each September on the last Saturday (ie 6 days) before the school holidays, taking both competitive and recreational paddlers up the Myall River and return.
