I N T E G R I T Y
..is one of the most important traits of a leader. (I would even say of a human as it is one of my core values.)

If our behavior does not match our words we will still have impact, but certainly not the impact we wanted.

Over time, people will find out what is really important to us.

Do you want to be known for WANTING to make a difference or for MAKING a difference?

Leaders, what is your bias?

In light of the recent happenings I cannot shake off (nor do I want to) what so many women and girls all over the world have to suffer because of their gender.

I have always wanted to be an advocate for BOTH men and women in leadership mainly because I was grossed out by some men-hating movements claiming to be feminists in the past.

But I had to learn that there is still a significant gap worldwide.

And I learned that feminism is "the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes" (Google Dictionary) which does not include being against men.

Growing up in Germany I was not aware that I was privileged and took it for granted that I was in leadership from a young age onward.

According to the UN, "estimates show that closing the gender gap could increase global GDP by 35 per cent on average".

So if that is true globally how can we improve locally?

1. Be aware of your unconscious bias/prejudice/stereotype.
How do you view men and women in leadership?

2. Be aware of your unconscious gender-based expectations.
For example, are you expecting women to be 'softer', more understanding than men?

3. Be aware of your impact.
How can you promote both men and women more fairly?
How can you support parents with children?

These are just a few things to do, but crucial to ensure we do everything in our control to support equal rights and opportunities for both men and women.

CELEBRATE YOUR WINS..and grief your losses! (you didn't see that coming did you!)

Happy 2nd half of the year and happy new financial year to those in Australia 🥂

This first half has been 'full-on' for me (mostly in good ways) and I am looking forward to some time off next week. 🏖️ (I wish!)

In the last few days, especially during lockdown here in Sydney, I have been inspired to look back and celebrate some wins I have already had this year. 🎉

As leaders, we often forget about celebrating our personal wins! ...what we have accomplished, what/who we have developed, how we have developed ourselves, how we have become better leaders, etc. 💡

But we also forget to grieve our losses. And I am not only talking about losing loved ones. We can grieve the loss of 'the good old ways/days', the 'could have been's' and 'should have been's', or our disappointment in people or situations, etc. 😔

Gratefulness is important but acknowledging our grief can be a powerful step to more honesty and emotional wellbeing. 🔥

That's why I want to challenge you:
📝 Write down 3-5 wins so far this year
📝 Write down 1-3 losses/disappointments so far this year
📝 Set yourself 3-5 SMART goals you personally want to achieve in the second half of this year

And you will be ready to conquer these next 6 months!
