🐴 Cox plate 🐴

Well well well ! The cox plate is just around the corner. We’ve got a huge race installed with a Japanese raider who is hot in the market and a 3 year old who was desperately unlucky last start, but you say who do I like !??

Well it’s the Australian horse of the year - Pride of Jenni. She was beaten by arguably the best miler in the country, right now, over the weekend in ceolwolf. She also missed the kick and was posted deep for 400- 600 so she had some excuses. I think she will primed for Saturday and with a marginally smaller field with no notable front runners, who takes her on? She’s on the quick back up where she pulled off last spring the one week back up group 1 double, the empire rose into the champions mile, all be it two mile races and this is the COX PLATE !!

Of course you can’t count out Mr brightside but on last start is he up to his best ? Not really. But you say what about Via sistina ? 100% she’s a chance but if you wanted me to say the danger it has to be the Japanese raider “ Prognosis”.

If pride of Jenni doesn’t miss the kick and she’s up to her best good luck catching her !

🏆 Melbourne Cup 2023 🏆

As the pulse quickens and the hooves thunder, the 2023 Melbourne Cup beckons an exhilarating conundrum for punters and enthusiasts alike. This year's line-up presents a challenging field, with Vauban emerging as the $4.60 favorite. Despite his impressive victory at Ascot, the Cup's probable dry track might prove a stumbling block for him. It's a well-known fact that the Cup seldom favors favorites, with only 34 emerging victorious, the last being Fiorente back in 2013 at lucrative odds of $7-1. While the William Mullins and Ryan Moore partnership commands respect, Vauban doesn't quite align with my selections.

I’ve landed on Soulcombe as the primary choice. With strategic gear adjustments—blinkers coming off and an altered race strategy with him not being assisted by the pony he presents a compelling case fitting the bill. The talented gelding, despite a tendency to miss the start, has the right jockey aboard to mitigate this flaw. A winnable weight and a favorable draw, provided he launches cleanly, position Soulcombe seems the obvious choice with the best jockey in the land aboard.
In the mix at $34, Future History boasts a similar lightweight advantage. A front-runner by nature, this horse thrives in conditions that favored front-runners during the recent Derby Day. With Holly Doyle set to take the reins, her Melbourne debut promises an exciting spectacle.
Then there's the question of Vow and Declare. History rarely repeats itself in the Melbourne Cup, There’s been 3 winners who have finished first in the cup who were 8 years old ,toryboy in 1865, Catalogue in 1938 & Twilight Payment in 2020. Can vow and declare write history tomorrow. Could Vow and Declare etch his name into this distinguished roster? With conditions aligning favorably and in peak form, the only concern remains the starting barrier. However, a top-ten finish seems a near certainty.
The Melbourne Cup, a theater of surprises and epic narratives, I’m hoping all the horses get around safe as the jocks.

As the Australian racing calendar reaches its crescendo, we set our sights on one of the most coveted and prestigious events on the track, the Cox Plate. This Group 1 weight-for-age race at Moonee Valley promises a spectacle of true sporting excellence. Among the field of top-class contenders, one name stands out as a potential jewel in the crown - Romantic Warrior. He’s my bet of the spring carnival. His run in the Turnbull was a pass mark and I wasn’t going to have a bet but the odds got the better of me. You’ve got to remember he hadn’t had a run since May. Almost 5 months. He had a haltered prep in Hong Kong to the lead up with the typhoons than had an issue with his feed on arrival to Australia. He didn’t eat properly for two weeks. Not to mention the softer track with the rain they had where the jocks were saying the track was definitely on the softer side. Hence the dominant win from gold trip. Absolutely loves the softer going. Cox plate day we get conditions to suit. A good surface and to top things off he’s drawn a favourable barrier. Plenty of excuses first up. No excuses tomorrow. I’ve got high hopes and I’ve truck loaded this fan favourite making him the largest bet of the spring carnival for us. Let’s get it lads.

As we gear up for one of the most anticipated events on the Australian racing calendar, The Everest 2023, the buzz and excitement in the air are palpable. This high-stakes sprint race, held at Royal Randwick, brings together an elite field of sprinters to compete for a whopping purse and the glory that comes with victory. Among the top contenders for this year's edition, one name stands out prominently - Think About It.

Think About It:
Think About It, a five-year-old gelding, has been making waves in the sprinting scene with an exceptional blend of speed, stamina, and a winning mentality. 8/8 on a good track .. drawn gate 5. Has had the perfect preparation for this race.

Think About It is known for his exceptional speed and the ability to track comfortably in the early stages of the race. He has an uncanny knack for finding an extra gear when it matters most, and this could prove pivotal in the Everest's frenetic pace that’ll be set by overpass and possibly the likes of cylinder with the blinkers. I

Royal Randwick's track conditions can be somewhat unpredictable, but Think About It has shown adaptability to a variety of surfaces. Whether it's a firm track or with a little give, this gelding's versatility is a definite asset. I think I wish I win is the obvious danger but gate 1 will be sticky and we could see the hardest luck story of the day.

For me there’s four chances tomorrow that fit the profile of an elite sprinter in 2023 : think about it , in secret , I wish i win and private eye.

They threw up $21s final field for in secret and I’ll be devastated if she wins and we didn’t have a ticket but I’m thinking she blows. If she does maybe we have a small swing- $25

I’m in full belief that Think About It has a genuine shot at sprinting glory in The Everest. He's a horse on the rise and profiles perfectly for the conditions given here today.
