If you can’t sing while running you aren’t doing steady state!
Being a Hyrox girlie I’ve always been obsessed with going harder, faster, and heavier which is necessary but not everything. Lately, I’ve really found the magic in steady state cardio as the glue that brings everything together.
Steady state cardio (think: a long walk, a slow run, a bike ride where you can actually hold a conversation or sing) has completely changed the way I feel in my body.
When we’re constantly in high-output mode — heavy lifts, HIIT, busy doing life things — our body spends a lot of time in sympathetic dominance. Steady state exercise brings us into the parasympathetic state. That’s rest, digest, and recover. It lowers cortisol, supports heart rate variability, and tells your nervous system that it’s safe to come down.
The benefits….
- Builds your aerobic base — the foundation that supports all other training
- Enhances recovery between weight sessions by increasing blood flow without taxing the CNS
- Strengthens cardiovascular efficiency over time & lowers inflammation
- Improves sleep quality and stress resilience
- When paired with lifting and HIIT, it creates a well-rounded training ecosystem
With all of that said… we offer steady state classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30am and Thursday at 5:30pm… this is your little nudge to join us 😜
