You don’t need to be a powerlifter to train here.

While powerlifting is a special part of what we do, most people at Simm City simply want to get stronger, healthier and more capable for everyday life.

Strength training is one of the best investments you can make in your long-term health. It helps maintain muscle mass, supports bone health, improves confidence, and can contribute to better physical and mental wellbeing as we age.

You don’t need to compete. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be “fit enough” before you start.

You just need to start.

If you’re looking for a supportive environment to build strength and improve your health, we’d love to help.

The best days are comp days. 💚🖤

Throwing it back to our massive double-header in March at Simm City Performance — kicking off with our Up & Comers novice competition before rolling straight into an APA-sanctioned meet.

There’s something special about platform day. Lifters chasing first attempts. Lifters chasing records. Friends, family and training partners packed into the room. Plenty of chalk, plenty of noise, and plenty of people stepping up to do something they never thought they could.

That’s what we love most about powerlifting. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or chasing a spot on a national platform, everyone gets the same opportunity to test their strength, back their training and be part of something bigger than themselves.

We’ve got more exciting competitions planned for the second half of 2026, so if you’ve been thinking about setting a goal, getting stronger, or eventually stepping onto the platform yourself, now is the perfect time to start.

Send us a message, book a visit, or come down and have a chat with the team. We’d love to help you build strength, confidence and performance both in and out of the gym.

There’s a certain type of person that makes a gym feel welcoming, and Aaron’s one of them.

No matter who you are, he’ll be the first to stop everything he’s doing during training and lock in for a spot with his trademark ‘Let’s Go!!’ And every comp needs someone bringing the energy and backing people properly, and for us, it’s Aaron.

What we respect most is that there’s nothing polished about his story. FIFO work, long hours, kids, exhaustion, trying to stay on top of life while still carving out time to train. A lot of people know exactly what that feels like.

He didn’t walk in chasing some perfect fitness lifestyle. He just wanted to feel better, move better, keep up with the kids and feel useful again. Over time, training became the thing that gave a bit of structure to the weeks and good people to be around while doing it.

That’s a big part of what Simm City has always been about. Strong people, yes — but also good people. The kind who clap the loudest for someone else’s PB and yell in your ear when the bar speed slows down.

If you’ve been thinking about getting back into training, trying strength work for the first time, or finding a gym where people actually know your name when you walk in, come have a look around. Aaron will be one of the first to say G’day.

The drinks fridge is always full here, and we’ll take all the power(lifting)-ade we can get!

How’s your hydration going with winter on the way? The second the mornings cool down, everyone suddenly forgets how to drink water. Meanwhile you’re still sweating through sessions, still burning through carbs, and wondering why your training feels flat halfway through the week.

Hydration matters. Carbs matter. Electrolytes matter. Especially when you’re training hard, lifting heavy, or pretending your iced coffee counts as fluid intake.

Also let’s be honest; blue Powerade just tastes better, although we’re also mad keen on the pineapple one (which is teal….🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️ make it make sense!)

What’s your pick? 👇

Most people think powerlifting is only for elite athletes or giant humans built like forklifts. It’s not.

It’s for people who want direction in their training. People who want to feel stronger, healthier and more capable in everyday life. People who are tired of wandering around commercial gyms without a real goal.

And in our experience, there’s something pretty addictive about discovering what you’re capable of when you commit to the process.

At Simm City Performance in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, we see beginners become competitors, nervous first-timers become confident lifters, and ordinary people surprise themselves every single week.

You do not need experience.
You do not need to “be fit first”.
And you definitely do not need to look a certain way to belong here.

Powerlifting is one of the fastest-growing strength sports in Australia for a reason. The community is welcoming, the progress is measurable, and the feeling of hitting a lift you once thought was impossible is hard to beat.

If you’ve ever thought about giving it a go, there’s no time like now.

Come try a session, learn the lifts properly, meet the crew and see what this sport is really about.

Strong teenagers need strong environments.

If you’ve hit the point where your commercial gym just isn’t cutting it anymore… this might be your next move.

We’ve officially launched our Teen Gym Memberships at Simm City Performance for just $12.95/week — and honestly, we wish something like this existed when we were younger.

This isn’t a room full of broken machines, people filming TikToks, or guessing their way through workouts. This is a genuine high performance training facility built for people who actually want to get stronger, learn properly, and train around others who take progress seriously.

✔️ Premium strength & conditioning equipment
✔️ Coaching guidance on the gym floor
✔️ Access to novice powerlifting competitions
✔️ A supportive environment for young lifters
✔️ 24/7 access available for 14+
✔️ No joining fee

We’re seeing more and more young athletes and lifters outgrow the standard commercial gym setup — stronger, more motivated, wanting more direction and better equipment. That’s exactly why we created this membership.

If your teenager is serious about strength, sport, performance, or just wants to train in an environment that pushes them forward, we’d love to welcome them into the community here.
