Henry Sue Circular Tong Long - Nambour. Henry Sue Circular Praying Mantis Kung Fu (Tong Long Yuen Mo Pai) & Tai Chi taught under the careful guidance of Sifu Glenn Lange. www.ckfa.com.au

Circular Tong Long is renowned for its devastating hitting power, it's hand speed & it's effectiveness in realistic hand to hand situations. Grand Master Henry Sue has progressed the evolution of the traditional Southern Style Praying Mantis Kung Fu (Chow Gar Tong Long) and now contains the essence of Eagle Claw, Cotton Palm and Circular Hand. Our Tong Long is also blended with the internal power of Tai Chi, making it more versatile and fluid. We will teach you how to utilize your body's maximum energy output to deter any would be attacker. You will use padwork to train rapid, repetitive heavy strikes using hands, fingers, elbows, knees, feet, and head. Over time you will develop a fierce mental focus that will boost your confidence in any situation. Be prepared, we will arm you with formidable weapons to defend yourself. The grading system of Circular Tong Long includes form, single hand techniques, and jongs for every belt. Some grades also include weaponary. The Tong Long ( Southern Preying Mantis ) style of Kung Fu is a deadly fighting art. To the inexperienced eye, it may appear that practitioners merely wave their arms in the air, giving an impression of weak and ineffective hits. This is far from reality. Anyone who has been unlucky enough to find themselves at the end of an arm " waved " by an experienced Tong Long member can attest to this. Here is a style that is ideally suited to people of any age and size. It does not rely on sheer physical strength for its damaging effects but, as we shall see, students are able to develop tremendous attacking power from within themselves.

WHAT IS KUNG FU REALLY DOING INSIDE YOUR BODY?

We often talk about Kung Fu making you stronger, fitter and more flexible.

But something much deeper is happening when you practise traditional Kung Fu.

🌀 “INTERNAL FLOSSING”

The twisting, spiralling, stretching and contracting movements of Kung Fu create movement through the entire torso.

Think of it as flossing the body from the inside out.

As you breathe and move, the diaphragm, abdominal muscles and surrounding tissues continually contract and release. The gentle compression and release through the torso creates movement around the internal structures of the body.

It isn't literally “flossing” your organs—but it's a fascinating way of describing the way traditional movement stimulates and mobilises the body's internal tissues.

🌿 YOUR FASCIA — THE BODY'S CONNECTIVE WEB

Fascia surrounds and connects your muscles, bones, nerves and organs.

Kung Fu's flowing movements, spirals and changes of direction encourage the body to move as one connected system rather than as isolated muscles.

This can help maintain mobility, body awareness and efficient movement.

🫁 YOUR BREATH

Traditional Kung Fu places great importance on breathing.

Learning to coordinate breath with movement can encourage diaphragmatic breathing, improve body awareness and help shift the nervous system towards a calmer state.

🧠 YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM

Kung Fu isn't just physical.

You have to concentrate, coordinate movement, control your breathing, maintain balance and remain aware of your body.

Over time, this constant communication between the brain and body develops coordination, balance and proprioception—your awareness of where your body is in space.

❤️ YOUR WHOLE BODY WORKS TOGETHER

This is one of the beautiful things about traditional Kung Fu.

A movement may begin with the feet, travel through the legs and hips, rotate through the spine and finish through the hands.

One body. One movement. One connection.

Kung Fu isn't simply about learning how to fight.

It's about learning how to move, breathe, connect and control your body from the inside out.

Train the outside. Develop the inside. Strengthen the whole.

CKFA Tai Chi Chuan Kung Fu & Internal Arts School is dedicated to preserving the true essence of traditional martial arts. Our training emphasizes traditional Kung Fu for practical self-defense, structure, and discipline, alongside Tai Chi Chuan for balance, relaxation, breath control, and internal power. Together, these arts cultivate strength, awareness, and resilience—both physically and mentally.

We invite students to move beyond assumptions and experience training that extends beyond technique alone. At CKFA, martial arts are not about competition or spectacle, but a journey of personal growth and transformation.
