Well, that's a wrap.. the 2025 Australian Age Championships are over for our two Piranhas.. so let's wrap up how they both went..

Starting with Lucy..

Lucy competed in the 50m freestyle MC. All ages 12-18 swim together in the multi class heats, however, Lucy's age grouping was 12-13 year olds.

This meet did not bring a pb for her, as her meets leading up to it had (school states) however she gave her all and proudly represented the Nambour Piranhas swim club placing 24th in her age grouping ( narrowly missing a place in the B final ) and 13th 13 year old multi class swimmer over 50m freestyle.. Well done Lucy!!

Next we come to Hamish:

What a huge week he had .. 7 events , 5 pbs; including a huge pb of 4.69 seconds in the 200 IM, 2nd reserve for the 200 Backstroke final and two 2nd placings in his heats, what an achievement.

To show how he went in each event , I am going to list each event and his placings in that event:

200 Backstroke 12th
100 Butterfly 23rd
100 Backstroke 23rd
50 Butterfly 38th
200IM 14th
200 Butterfly 18th
50 Backstroke 35th

To put these placings in perspective, let's focus on today's 50 backstroke. Placings from 11th to 38th ; including Hamish were between 28.00 and 29.00 seconds.. the 15 year old boys age group is seriously competitive.. Hamish you should be extremely proud of yourself and your achievements!

Before I finish this post, I want to thank Coach Andy. You have not been a piranha for very long but you took Lucy and Hamish under your wing and guided these young swimmers over the last 7 days..THANKYOU.. we hope you get a well earned rest over the coming days!

Last day at the Australian Age championships for Hamish today, with two events in the pool.. first up the 200 Fly at 9:30 am; event 182, heat 1, lane 7. We've watched Hamish smash this event numerous times at meets, but what has he got left after his amazing swim in the 200IM yesterday.. ( I think his lucky black cap worked its magic 🤣) and then the 50 backstroke at 12:40pm event 195, heat 6, lane 2.. Good luck Ham!!! You have a whole team of piranhas swimming you..

Couple of screen shots from yesterday's 200IM..

This is our last chance to watch Hamish in action here, but don't forget Hamish is competing in the Australian Open championships very soon..
