AKC Round 4 2025 Ipswich Kart Club.
Let’s not beat around the bush here, we didn’t have a good round,
We seemingly had everything prepared but the pieces just didn’t mesh together. Practice 1, 2 & 3 went to plan with practice 3 seeing Dan sitting 2nd in his group and the highest practice result in an AKC so far. Then, when new tyres went on for practice 4, the kart went off a cliff and left us scrambling to solve it before qualifying where we partially recovered and managed P26 out of 53 drivers.
Heat 1 was pretty average, losing and gaining a few positions, all the while wrestling an unruly Kart, and then Heat 2 in the rain was going well until Dan put a wheel on the painted line at throttle up time and spun off the track, he got going again but could only manage to prevent the DNF after losing about 1/2 a lap stuck in the wet grass.
Heat 3 was the quickest laps of the weekend finishing in P12 then in H4 the Kart wouldn’t turn again, leading to two solo runs across the grass, losing a lot of places and much frustration inside the helmet… After the points dropped, he made it into the final without any penalties or damage to the Kart, and he had something to work with.
The final was some level of recovery for the weekend with pace back in the kart and a lot of work to do starting out of P34. After losing 3 laps out of the race due to a full course caution for an accident, Dan drove into P18 and knocking on the door of the next group before the checkered flag came out. 16 places in 17 laps is about as good as could have been done so it was a fantastic drive!
We want to show our gratitude to Empire Kartsport, all our supporters and to our Sponsors
Blue Streak Capital and Spectre VFX, without you guys we wouldn’t be on the grid. Also to Uncle Kev for making the journey and helping get Kart 31 prepped for action.
We’ll be doing a review into what went wrong for us in an AKC season that held such great promise but didn’t fire., but in the meantime we have AKC round 5 at Coffs Harbour and a NSW state title in Dubbo to prepare for, before the State Cup in Bundaberg to hopefully round out the year on a high note.
DBMR out.
