To my beautiful Sole Family past and present, supporters and our dance community.
I started my journey as a dance teacher at 14 years of age and not long after taking on huge responsibilities in dance studio management roles throughout high school.
At 17, fresh out of school, I started my own dance school in this little home town of mine. I had a dream to create a platform that would allow me to pursue what I loved and offer opportunity in a place that was limited to it. I could never have imagined what it has grown into, the impact it has made, the things it has done, the lives it has changed, the lessons it has taught me, the international scale it has reached and everything in-between.
Itโs been 15 years since I started this business and I am so proud of it and all Iโve achieved and every single person that has been apart of the evolution of it all.
With that being said, It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of an era, the closing of The House Of Sole.
There are many reasons for this decision and I do not underestimate and am so sensitive to the impact it will have on so manyโฆ but I also trust your respect, support and understanding.
Iโve endured a lot personally in these last years and life has changed immensely for me. I am in a different time in my life and being a single mumma of a beautiful daughter, my priorities have changed and my biggest reasons for this decision is for both my own and my daughters well-being, health and happiness.
Running a dance school is an extremely demanding lifestyle, an all consuming and 24/7 type of job. I have loved it so much and in the past have been able to pour absolutely all I am and have into building it, however in this stage in my life, I am no longer in the position to do so and without me, it does not thrive.
I also have extremely exciting prospects ahead of me in a career sense and I am ready to take on a new chapter that allows me to pursue these passions and dreams whilst building a life that is better suited for my family. I will continue to serve the dance industry and community and I am excited to continue to provide opportunities and do what I love on a different scale. Time for me to spread my wings and Iโm really excited for the possibilities this will open - WATCH THIS SPACE!!
I want to thank everyone past and present from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this incredible ride, I am beyond grateful for this beautiful family and immensely proud of each and every dancer and teacher and thankful to every family and supporters that have been a part of Sole. I am also so grateful to have had the overwhelming amount of love and support we have received from our incredible dance community near and far over all these years.
I have been ridiculously blessed with an incredible team past and present that has helped to shape all Sole has been over these 15 years, I couldnโt have done it without you.
WHAT NOW?
As I am sure you can appreciate, this will be the end of a huge era, many generations of dancers, teachers, choreographers, crews and families have come and gone and I know Sole has been home and made a huge impact in everyoneโs lives. I want the opportunity to close this chapter in celebration of all it has been and celebrate WITH everyone that has been a part of this journey.
Therefore, I will be putting on a HUGE end of Sole celebration event in April 2023 that will include a reunion, a show (I will be inviting ALL sole dancers past and present to put on an epic show full of some of the iconic crews and routines over the 15 years!!!) a dance camp (with the OG sole teachers) and a formal celebration night. - More details to come but mark your calendars as it will be a momentous occasion you do not want to miss!!
In saying this, the business โThe House Of Soleโ as it stands will finish up at the end of this year, 16th of December 2022โฆ HOWEVER in this interim between close of business and the end of Sole celebration events next year, I am excited to offer a final 8 week program for Term 1, 2023 - which will cater to everyone, facilitated by me.
This will be my final offerings on the Sunshine Coast before I officially close the Sole chapter and relocate to Sydney to be closer to my family and start this new chapter. I cannot wait to share this program and give dancers here the chance to train under me in this kind of capacity before I move onto my next endeavours - details to be released.
In closing, as we move into our end of year training and events, Iโm excited to make every moment count and dance our hearts out together, as the final generation of the Sole Family!!!
Thank you for your love and support.
With so much love and hugs,
T Wescombe
