The Mid North Coast Barrel Racing Club came into being on the 27 February 2017 when a group of like-minded people decided that there was definitely the need for such a sporting club in the Mid North Coa
st area of New South Wales. Location: Nabiac NSW - Venue: Nabiac Showground. Community consultation with Nabiac residents and businesses showed an overwhelming support for the formation of such a sporting club. It was recognised that a weekend long event that promoted families engaging in a sporting activity together in the fresh air and sunshine was a positive role model that the community wished to be an active participant of. Everyone understood that such a sporting club embodied the spirit of such a small rural community who has its roots in livestock and horses. Nabiac has a population of 2728 of which 49.1% are females and 50.9% are males and is located 281kms NNE of Sydney. Nabiac Showground was chosen as the suitable location for the competition arena due to being sited on the Pacific Highway(A1). Thus, there is easy and convenient transportation for horses in large floats, goosenecks and trucks. It is the belief of the committee that the MNCBRC will be more successful due to the ease of location and aesthetic grounds with suitable camping facilities for horse and owner. We run a Saturday Competition called our Twighlight/Summer Competition (held in daylight savings) starting at 2:30 for the younger LEDs, Transitional and Non-Competitive. All other age groups commence at 3:30pm finishing around 6pm. Our Sunday Competition (Winter Competition) starts at 9am allowing plenty of time for travel. Again the LEDs, Transistional's and Non-Competitive commence 1 hour earlier to ensure safety of small children, learner riders and young or training horses. Our Club is also running ABHA affiliated Barrel Racing events at Wingham Showground Rodeo Arena to help locals with interest in Barrel Racing be able to compete in the National Finals held at Tamworth NSW.
