A big thank you to everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting and to all those who have supported the Mypolonga Memorial Sporting Complex throughout the past year.
The AGM provided an opportunity to reflect on what has been another significant year for the club. Our facility upgrade project continues to progress well, highlighted by the completion of the new oval lighting, the installation of the playground, and continued progress on our new changerooms. Securing a further $250,000 in State Government funding has also placed the club in a fantastic position as we continue to invest in facilities that will benefit our football, netball, cricket and tennis clubs for many years to come.
Beyond the major projects, it has also been pleasing to see the continued growth in Friday night dinners, the success of community events such as Halloween and the grand opening of the lights, along with the increased activity around the complex through initiatives like cricket's Thursday dinners, Saturday BBQs and Netball's Sips by the Sidelines. These events continue to strengthen our club as a community hub and create opportunities to support all of our sporting clubs.
The AGM also saw some changes to our committee.
After an incredible 17 years as Secretary, Karen Brown has stepped down from the role. Karen's contribution to the club over nearly two decades has been enormous, and on behalf of the committee and our members, we sincerely thank her for her dedication, professionalism and countless hours of service. While stepping aside as Secretary, we're pleased Karen will remain involved, providing support and mentoring to our incoming Secretary, Pria Lee Martin, as she takes on the role.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Sue Horsnell, who did not seek re-election this year. Sue has made a valuable contribution to the club over many years, including serving as Vice President for five years while also sharing the Oval Representative role. We thank her for everything she has done for our sporting community.
Our Executive remains largely unchanged, with Mark Rusty Rowley re-elected as President, Tom Carstairs continuing as Vice President, and Joel Eckermann continuing as Treasurer.
We're also excited to welcome Steven Thiele, Ben Burdett and Cooper Walton to the committee. We look forward to the ideas and enthusiasm they will bring as we continue to improve our facilities and build an even stronger club.
Finally, thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, player, coach, supporter and community member who contributes their time throughout the year. Whether you're serving behind the bar, coaching a team, helping with maintenance, supporting events or simply coming through the gate, you're helping make our club what it is.
We're excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to build a sporting complex our whole community can be proud of.
