The Putt Bennett Fishing Festival held on the second weekend in January every year at North Beach Recreation & Bowling Club attracts fishing enthusiasts from far and wide. Now in our 26th year, the competition comprises of individual and family prizes for beach, estuary and deep sea classes, catch or catch & release. The competition encourages responsible fishing with an emphasis on catch & releas

On top of the competition and amazing prize pool, there are many other great reasons to join in the fun including, face painting, casting comps and nightly rod & reel giveaways just for entering the competition! On top of all that, you have the chance to win a boat, motor and trailer package, 2 kayaks or a fabulous fishing and esky pack if you enter our raffle. See you at the Bowlo! ��

🌊 2026 Deep Sea Section Highlights 🌊

The offshore anglers certainly delivered this year, with some great fish recorded and plenty of species landed across the festival.

Congratulations to our Deep Sea Section winners and placegetters, and thank you to everyone who took part.

Congratulations to our 2026 Biggest Species Winners! 🏆🐟

These anglers recorded the largest fish in their respective species categories across the festival and should be incredibly proud of their achievements.
A fantastic effort from all involved and a great showcase of the quality fishing on offer throughout the weekend. 🎣

Some fantastic fish were recorded across the festival, with plenty of great competition across our Flathead, Whiting & Bream sections.

Well done to everyone who weighed in fish or submitted brag mat photos across the festival and helped make it such a great success.

There were so many great prizes up for grabs for the kids throughout the weekend and these Alvey wading bags with fish measure ruler were definitely a favourite 🎣👏

Across the three competition days, 20 lucky Junior and Sub-Junior competitors who weighed in a live fish won an awesome prize pack thanks to Alvey Reels Australia.

It was great to see so many kids out on the water catching fish and bringing them in to the live weigh-ins for everyone to see before the fish were released back into the river.

A huge thank you to Alvey Reels Australia for supporting the next generation of anglers and helping make the festival such a memorable experience for the kids 🐟

One of the best parts of the weekend - seeing so many proud kids collecting their PBFFF medallions 🏅🎣
Whether it was their first fish, first competition, or just a fun weekend with family and friends, these moments are what the festival is all about.

🎣 RANDOM SPECIES WINNERS 🎣

One thing we really wanted to do this year was spread the prizes around, giving everyone a chance to walk away with something, not just the overall winners.

We randomly drew prizes from competitors who weighed in a live fish or submitted a brag mat photo for the featured species each day:
🐟 Flathead Friday
🐟 Whiting Saturday
🐟 Bream Sunday

It was great seeing so many families, kids and anglers getting involved right through the weekend, and these random draws added plenty of excitement at each weigh-in session.
