May saw the start of our club Polocrosse season. Quirindi ran their carnival at Cassilis grounds at Coolah. Brandon played Berragoon Daisy in the Bunnan team that won the A grade open. He was awarded best number 1, champion men’s horse and champion horse of the carnival.
Simon played Rosebrook Summit and Colin was on Rosebrook Gallant in the Muswellbrook team that won the B grade open. Simon and Summit were judged the best number one.
During the break in carnivals due to the Darwin Nationals Brandon and Alane competed at the Merriwa campdraft. Brandon ran second in the maiden draft on Rosebrook Zendaya (Kirkbys Stud Refine/Palmers El Condo). Alane made two finals on Rosebrook Paisley (Rosebrook Natasha/One Moore Daddy) and Rosebrook Design (Rosebrook Ava/Wallabah Excel) after running scores in the high eighties. Design and her full sister Rosebrook Divine are owned by Brandon and Alane.

As the Polocrosse season comes to a close for us we thought we’d start taking a look back at the year. As with every year a lot of representative competition is played before the start of the club carnivals.
Brandon played Berragoon Daisy (Berragoon Laura/Stonebrook Finno) at both the Berragoon and the Swan Cup carnivals. They played against some very strong teams at both carnivals and acquitted themselves very well.
We took four yearlings and three ridden horses to the Swan Cup sale in late March. Alane and Brandon sold three yearlings as well so it was a very busy weekend. We were very happy with the way they all sold to great competition homes.
April saw the running of the interstate Barastoc carnival at Warwick. Brandon and Berragoon Daisy played a one in all their chukkas against a very strong Queensland men’s team. Colin played Rosebrook Gallant (Rosebrook Mia/ Booerie Creek Flying Star) in the winning masters mens team.
April also saw the return of senior Polocrosse to Sydney show for an exhibition game. Simon played Rosebrook Summit (Rosebrook Susie Wong/ Palmers El Condo), Colin played Gallant and Ben Tunnicliff played Rosebrook Glasgow (Rosebrook Vienna/Booerie Creek Flying Star).
Colin won the best number two. It would be great to see Polocrosse back at Sydney show. We have all had the privilege of playing there and it’s a great experience.

We made a trip to Sydney show on Wednesday afternoon for Simon and Colin to participate in an exhibition match of senior polocrosse. This is the first time that senior polocrosse has been in the main arena in over a decade.
Simon played Rosebrook Summit, Colin played Rosebrook Gallant and Ben Tunnicliff was out the back of the line up on Rosebrook Glasgow.
Thanks to the RAS of NSW for the invitation to put on the exhibition. Thanks to NSW Polocrosse for all their organising
Colin won a beautiful rug sponsored by the McIntyre family for best number two. Thanks to the McIntyre family.
Hopefully we will see a return of competition senior polocrosse at Sydney show in the near future.
