As you will be aware the greater Brisbane area has entered a lock down at this point until Thursday 6pm

We will not attempt to interpret advice issued by QLD & NSW health. However if you have been in the greater Brisbane areas from the 20th March you must not attend training this week. Please also take note of the emerging situation in Byron Bay. If you have attended any of the locations listed you must also not attend training.

This is a developing situation so it is the responsibility of all families to keep up to date on advice issued by QLD and NSW health and respond accordingly.

We remind families to sign in and out using our QR code. Make sure you and your child are well to attend training and that you practice good hand hygiene.

Congratulations to Vulcans umpire Bella Kidman for receiving the AFLQ Umpire4Fun Club Umpire of the year award for the whole of South East Queensland!

A fantastic and well deserved award for Bella who stepped into the role this season, umpiring around 15 home games, on top of managing her year 11 studies.

As a club we could always rely on Bella, but most importantly Bella gained the respect of the kids on the field as she undertook her position with grace and confidence and was always fair in her decisions.

A few pics of the great ump in action this season are with this post.

Thank you and congratulations Bella
from the Vulcans committee and coaches.🔥

FINAL HOME GAME WRAP 27 SEPT 2020

On a day that could only be described as truly glorious, the Vulcan God himself was obviously pleased with our sacrifices as he shone down upon us, blessing us with a perfect day of AFL football at home with two games for two wins in a spectacle that had to be seen to be believed.

Our Superstars, U8's and u10’s played away and returned in the afternoon for our presentation that capped off a great season. Thanks to Toni, Kym and Steve for making it happen. A special mention for our U11s Dougall, and Lawrence for achieving 50 games this season, well done boys.

A message from Toni - Superstars and U8’s

The Vulcans superstars soared this year. Our numbers may have been small, but our presence definitely felt! We merged with the tigers to make a team and get kids out on the field.

Sonny, who loves to put the pressure on, improved every week and is a real team player. Chaitanya was unstoppable up forward with his big kicks, and growing confidence.

Well done superstars, every training and game day you showed great sportsmanship and courage. I’m proud!

Well done U8’s for such an amazing season it was such a pleasure coaching you all and even better to seeing the growth you have all had so looking forward to next year 🔥

Harry very proud of you for your leadership roll and help assisting your team mates,
Otis most improved love your persistence and never give up energy,
Audrey every week you just got better and better look forward to what you can achieve next year,
Seanna you have incredible potential just keep trying your best, Alfie when you switch on there is no stopping you well done,
Dillian I really love your amazing attitude such a kind boy,
Orlando you keep showing up every week and when you get that hunger for the ball look out,
Alec well done when you put you mind to it you really show up, Lachlan I love that you just keep showing up and give your best, Riely you only played one game in the under 8’s and then had a go in the U10’s wow shows your courageous attitude

🏉 thank you team for getting to every training session and game day x and a big thank you 🙏 to all the parents carers and grandparents for all your help

đź’•Also a huge thanks to our favourite whistle blower Bella.

A message from Steve - u10’s

Overall the kids all grew in confidence every week. As a coach its really hard to describe individually as they grew as a team and without each other they had no team. Could not have been prouder and can't wait to coach them all again next year.

Audrey - Confident young lady, loved playing, coming from the u8’s (first year player)
Tyler - Great tackler
Poppy - Never says die, good marker
Cooper - fast and a great reader of the game
Lachlan - Hard to the ball and the player
Bridget - Strength in the pack wouldn’t let them take the ball away
Khuzaymah - Great at getting in and under, first to the ball and great tackler
Thaubaan - Like his brother, great in and under player and tackler
Inge-Marie - Great kicker, always gives 100% (first year player)
Sienna - Lightning fast and great reader of the game
Harry - Runs and runs all day
Otis - Another great tackler also runs all day
Alfie - Legend of a 6 year old, not scared to play against the older kids
Riley - Another young fella who grew in confidence playing u8’s to become a regular in u10’s

Under 13 girls

First home game was our U13’s girls who took on the Bombers, the Vulcans led from the start with Ballina unable to answer the sheer determination of our Vulcans girls who won convincingly. This team has gone from strength to strength and is looking a real chance for the flag this season, hitting top form just at the right time. Well done girls, great job coach Zali and thanks to Steve and Gina. Final score - Vulcans 74 to Bombers 39

Lucy- Put your house on her, money in the bank, a genuine group 1 thoroughbred, born to play
Bree- Coming back from injury looks to be back to her former brilliance, her fingerprints were found all over this win
Elise- Nothing short of a biblical performance, ice cool under pressure, kicked 7 goals, carved them up at will whilst making it look easy, looked to have the ball on elastic band, a privilege to watch
Sundara- Always in the mix with no backdown switch, a true source of power for this Vulcans side
Sascha- Unbelievable performance, played both games and shone so brightly you needed sunglasses to watch
Charlotte- Solid performance again, made them pay dearly for any mistakes, always has a rabbit ready to pull out from under her hat
Billi- Nearly wore out her football boots, ran the opposition off their feet yet again, solid skills to match, resourceful
Lexcie- Fast, strong, determined, always causes the opposition plenty of persistent headaches, a key player in this side
Olivia- Got belted got back up repeatedly, small in stature but giant in courage, oversized hearts must have been on sale when she was built
Perry- Another solid reliable performance, miss consistent, gets the job done
Wren- A game changer, never a dull moment when she gets the ball, crafty, elusive
Peppa- Born with no reverse gear, a skilful, courageous goal kicking machine

Under 15 girls

Next game was the u15’s girls v the Tigers, Byron Bruns, Coolangatta mix, a nail biter from start to finish with the scoreboard balancing all game. It went right to the line with just one goal deciding the match. You would be hard pressed to see a better game anywhere, a huge thanks to the other Northern Rivers players and clubs that made this possible, it has been a pleasure working with you, we would keep them all if we could! The game was topped off with a stirring speech from coach Luke that came straight from the heart, well done mate well deserved, a huge thanks to Paul and Paula too. Final score Vulcans 37 - Tigers,Bruns,Byron,Cooly - 31

Ebony- Any opposition team's worst nightmare come true, commitment personified, brings plenty to the table
Hannah- The only living example of a cross between a ballet dancer and AFL player, appears to levitate above the turf when running, a slippery character indeed
Ruby - Flashes of brilliance, good skipper, I couldn’t be prouder, love ya! (please run the right way and clean your room)
Jorja - Like all good magicians she had a couple of aces up her sleeve today kicking a few screamers including the game decider
Asha- A no nonsense player who throws girls twice her size around like playing cards, fast and skilful, the force is strong in this one, many a player has realised too late the mistake of underestimating her size
Lucy- Came up with the goods when it mattered, strong, dependable and reliable
Charlotte- Getting the ball from her is like trying to take a T bone steak from a pitbull, relentless in contesting the ball
Mia- Able to miraculously appear from thin air when needed, outstanding rookie season
Sascha- Fearless in attack and defence left nothing in the tank after two outstanding performances
Mahalia- Another great performance, calm under pressure a valuable linch pin in this side
Sunny- First over the wall when the trumpet sounds, led the troops from the front, skill to spare
Thandi - A relief to see her in the backline when the opposition came knocking, outstanding defending performance
Eden- Cool under pressure topping up the account with a couple of goals just when we needed it most
Chia- Took no prisoners with her relentless tackling, solid game
Jaden-Manages to keep the ball alive against all odds, great performance
Ella- Supernatural powers of ball theft, leaves the opposition wondering what just happened
Ezra- Able to turn the tide of a game with outstanding ball return skills, another great effort, great AFL skills, considering her full time job as a comedian
Milika- A great allrounder who gave plenty, speed to burn, will be missed

It has been a privilege to be a part of this very special club, to see these kids, from our best stars to the ones that haven’t touched a ball before, grow not only as AFL players but just as importantly in character and confidence has been a huge reward. Thanks everybody and bring on 2021! Just two more games for the u13 girls left, good luck! Again thanks to everybody who has made the season such a success.

Regards,

Mick
Vulcans President
