Hi Murtoa Basketball followers unfortunately I have to make a sad announcement which I’m sure a lot of you are already aware of.
We have officially folded our club. After not being able to rebuild after Covid and the goal posts for running this changed with new policies and requirements, unfortunately we were unable see a future for our little club. Murtoa Magpies Basketball club would have turned 50 this year.
In regards to the folding we donated most of our funds to the Murtoa Progress Association to help facilitate the planned building of a community basketball court which we will add a commemorative plaque. The rest of the funds will be given to the historical society so we can put together a display of our memorabilia.
I would like to thank the Murtoa community for your support over the years and as sad as this end of era is I, personally have many fond memories of being involved with the club as first a player, then parent, coach and coordinator over the past 25 years and finally the reluctant president.
The heart and soul Marie and Terry and family thank you both for your years of dedication to the club. I could spend days thanking everyone personally so I’ll collectively thank you all.
In the end a huge thanks to Matt and Nav, Bec and Jo. The future looks bright with all the next gen players filling the kindergarten and schools. Keep putting up shots! 🏀 🏀🏀🏀💜 Gaie Wheeler
