WEEKLY NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS

become our 4th Number 1 team for the year after a couple of dominating weeks in the ACT.

As seasons around the country progress we have adjusted our algorithm slightly - point differential is now averaged out per game as opposed to being accumulative, which we think has resulted in a more accurate rankings.

Rankings definitely up for debate this week - with some blowouts giving a few teams a boost. Looking forward to seeing things even out a little bit more as leagues start to approach their full cycle of games as everyone plays each other. 🙂🏈🇦🇺

WEEKLY NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS!

Below is a little insight for into how our rankings are calculated.

✅ Point Differential and Wins are the big one obviously. How dominant is your team week to week.

⚖️ Weighting is also applied depending on the league you play in, with more established leagues gettting a bump in calculations, much like the NCAA. Think of a league like Brisbane Division 1 being the SEC, and a newer, less established league like ACT being the Sun Belt. 🙂

As always - looking forward to seeing the reactions and banter between teams from across the country!

WEEKLY NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS - TAKE TWO!

Was great to see the level of interest in this from the Australian Flag Football community.

Another week’s worth of games across 5 states and territories and 7 leagues gives us more active data for our “Associated Press Algorithm” to do its magic - resulting in what we think is a pretty accurate metric of where things are at.

WEEKLY NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS!

It’s a great time for Flag Football. Leagues and tournaments kicking off everywhere, with teams in every state participating and competing.

Much like the “Associated Press” does for college football in the US, we’ll be bringing you our Top 25 teams each week based on their performances. Expect a lot of movement up and down as seasons progress, and the clear top units start to separate themselves across the nation!

With the explosion of Flag Football around Australia, and the increase in dedicated legends running leagues from Brisbane to Melbourne to Canberra to Hobart to Adelaide and everywhere in between, Team Touchdown is thrilled to take a step back and enjoy life as a spectator in 2024. 🙂

Around the country, seasons will be kicking off this weekend - and thanks to you are only one tap on your phone away from scores and stats as games are happening in real time. With this in mind, we’ll be keeping track of the action with NCAA-style power rankings! Check in every Monday to see who makes it into our Top 25 in the nation!

MIKE’S DOG SQUAD - ROOKIES ON THE RISE

As we continue to speak with Flag Football teams around the country, we recently caught up with Aryton Janez - Team Captain and All-Pro Centre for Mike’s Dog Squad.

MDS played their first season in Melbourne in 2023, making the playoffs out of the gate and having several players put themselves on the map nationally. Their engagement with the promotion side of the sport was also top notch and we look forward to seeing them grow further in 2024 and beyond.

GRONK IT - THE MOST DOMINANT FLAG TEAM IN OZ

Last weekend we had the pleasure of catching up with QB Bart Foley from QLD outfit “Gronk It”. This juggernaut have been undefeated in for the past three seasons and we wanted to get some insight on what makes them tick.

We’ll be looking to catch up with more Flag Football teams around the country - to hear from the players as excitement builds for the many different events happening in this space over the next 12 months.

MELBOURNE FLAG FOOTBALL - 2023 CO-MVP’s

Congratulations to both .pascual8 and for being awarded our joint 2023 MVP award.

These two were the most dominant players throughout the season on both sides of the ball, which separated them from other candidates for the award.

Both players have huge futures in Flag Football as the sport continues to grow - national and international play could be right around the corner. 🙂

Defence can often get forgotten in the fast paced environment of Flag Football - but not at Team Touchdown. 🙂

was a pash rushing force this season, impacting games and stifling offences while leading his team to a championship.

The benchmark for defence has been set - looking forward watching it rise again in 2024.
