Whilst my main focus with Star is pony dressage, he has certainly inherited his jumping ability from his mother Lakevale Felicity! 😍

I am grateful to my coach Emily for piloting Star around and getting him used to all things jumping!

The Lakevale ponies have a history of being great jumpers with one of them being Lakevale Toyman - who is the cutest little grey pony who competed to 1* eventing and even tackled Melbourne3DE! (See last picture - taken by Equine Focus) 📸

Lakevale Felicity (Star’s Dam) and Lakevale Toyman share the same Sire (Mondiso Park Esquire) - so in turn Star has Mondiso Park Esquire as his grandsire/damsire! 😊

It’s so cool to see that he has bloodlines that have made these great jumping ponies! Who knows… maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to get back to eventing - or find someone who would be keen to pilot Star around! I think he’d love it! 🐎

Puddle dancing today with Star! 💫

He had some lovely moments and some cheeky moments too! Just has so much power in such a little body. 🚀

He had a lot of fun - trotting and cantering through the puddle. Getting him used to going through water! 🐎👏

Hi there! 👋

My names Liz, I am a rider and equine scientist from Australia. 🐴 👩‍🔬

A little about my journey so far…
In 2013 I got my first pony, a beautiful Australian Stock Horse x Quarter Horse.

He started my love for pony dressage, and for a pony who wasn’t bred to do it - he certainly made his mark on the pony dressage scene!

We made it all the way to Elementary and even dabbled in some eventing too! He passed in 2019 and I wanted to carry on his legacy.

It took me a little while but I got back into horses and in mid 2020 - we purchased my first ever young pony.

Wallaroo Mega Star is a gorgeous German Riding Pony X ( by Movie Star out of Lakevale Felicity) and bred by Fiona Gruen.

He was started under saddle by Cavalier Performance Horses in late 2021 who then continued his education in 2022 and then Emily Riley of Jeir Park has also continued to play an instrumental role in furthering his education.

Special mention also to Tori Doak who rode Star in the early days as well!

Then in late 2020 I acquired my first ever big horse Timon - he is such a safe and quiet boy. He has been amazing to have especially while bringing along a young pony. We ride less often now, but I can always rely on him to be safe even after time off!

When I had Zane I was sharing so much about our journey, when I lost him it became hard to ever want to post.

I want to start sharing again more regularly - I want to share:

▪️the journey of bringing my young pony up through the levels of dressage (and who knows… maybe dabble in some eventing and showjumping too)!

▪️things I have learnt by doing my Equine Science degree.

Wallaroo Mega Star has been quietly ticking away behind the scenes with the help and expertise of my coach Emily. 🤩

Today I hopped on and had a wonderful lesson, where we ran through our first ever Novice test! (The 2.1)👏

To begin - we worked through some of the harder elements separately and then put them together at the end.

Star improved throughout as did the quality of the work!

He was a very good boy and I enjoyed riding a Novice test again. He is continuing to gain strength and confidence and I look forward to continuing to improve and train with him. 🫶🏼

So much fun today with Star! 🌟

We had a great lesson with Emily - Em hopped on first and then I did.

In our lesson today we did our first little course of jumps and we even cantered at a majority of the jumps! 🥰

I had such a great time - I am looking forward to doing more jumping and continuing to work on my position.

I am so proud of myself and Star - thanks so much to Emily for all her help. 😊💛

Star was much more confident in his jump session with Emily today! 😄👏

Em gave him a good workout over the jumps and then I hopped on at the end and we did a little course! I even cantered a cross rail - so I am pretty happy with that. 😊

I am really pleased that he was much happier and willing to go around and just give it a go!

I think he is enjoying the variety - and I look forward to doing more with him. 💛

On Thursday (4/4/24) - Star had his first jumping session in quite a while!

Emily took the reins to begin with and rode him. Star was a little nervous & apprehensive and took a little while to get going with the jumping - but this is understandable since it has been a while.

Hopefully with more practice and time he will gain confidence. Towards the end he started to jump better and I even hopped on and had a little go over some x-rails and the plank. 😄

Thanks so much to Emily for all her help - I am looking forward to continuing to incorporate more jumping and cross training into Star’s work for variety! 🐎

Wallaroo Mega Star strutting his stuff at the Murrumbateman Adult Riding Club January 2024 Competition!

In his first ever dressage test we placed 1st in the Preparatory 1 - with 70.667% ! 🥇

He received some great comments and the highlight was the following: “𝙇𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩!”

In the Preparatory 3 - we placed 2nd with 64.737% ! 🥈

The judge was a big fan and complemented us afterwards and we received the following comment on the test:

”𝙒𝙤𝙬. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠. 𝘼 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡. 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙪𝙜𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡. 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

A few weeks prior to this competition Star was fitted with his first dressage saddle - an Albion Saddlemakers Co. Ltd SLK Mk3! ❤️

This saddle was expertly fitted by the fabulous Catherine Cansell Equine Massage Services and Saddle Fitting - thank you so much Catherine for finding a saddle that suits both Star and I. 😄 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel so confident now and this saddle has played a huge role in his development and my position as well!

Catherine also recently fit my Prestige jump saddle to Star so I am looking forward to getting into some more jumping and cross training with him. 😊
