Luke and Charlotte from ATVstore just turned up at Farmfest Field Days to set up their display for the week, right between the Can-Am and Yamaha stands. Great to see them wearing their SXS Club colours.

The first ever SXS Club of Australia Inc. ride in Queensland, thanks to Southern Queensland Event Coordinator Bryan BJ Wells and all of the club members who attended. This first of many events to come was a sure sign that the SQ region of the club is well and truely here to stay.

Event 3 in the Southern Queensland region for the 2026 season is the Clarky’s Petrol Head Paradise Campaway on September 25-27. Clarky’s PHP is situated at 60 Clarkes Road, Lowmead, Qld, about 5.5 hrs North of the Brisbane CBD, and about an hour from Bundaberg. The property is approximately 2500 acres and has around 50km of trails, from windy trails and creek runs to more challenging hill climbs, sometimes calling to pull out the winch. Don’t be scared off by that though, it has plenty of variety for all levels of ability and machine.
Clarky’s is a privately owned property and is a tightly held secret of the locals so we were very fortunate to gain access, thanks to our affiliation with Motorcycling Australia.
This event is a Camp Away so we will be based at Clarky’s in the camp grounds where there are basic cold showers and toilets provided.
Being a typical SXS Club camp away, we try to all base ourselves roughly together, so when we go riding everybody knows we are heading out so we can all go in one big group with a nominated lead and sweep, or multiple smaller groups if required.
The event itself will take place from Friday at noon until Sunday at noon, and the driving of buggies is not permitted outside these times.
For those of you who have not been to a SXS Club camp away before, here are a few key things to remember:
2wd tow vehicle access is fine to get you into the camp grounds.
Leave any drinking of alcohol until after your last ride for the day. Our permit requires all participants, including passengers to have zero alcohol in their system and breath testers will be on site.
Bring a UHF radio if you have one and we will advise the channel we will be on before we ride.
Cost for this event is crazy cheap at just $70 per driver (one per buggy) including our MA insurance and is payable on the website prior to the event. Additional participants regardless of age are $20 just to cover the insurance, payable in cash on the day. These costs cover the clubs MA liability insurance, trail access all weekend as well as Friday and Saturday night camping fees.
If anybody chooses to make any cash donations to the club charity program, these will be graciously accepted by BJ on the day. This isn’t a requirement though, just if you choose to.
All attendees must be signed up club members of SXS Club of Australia Inc. and must sign on with event officials before unloading your buggy.
Helmet, eye protection and closed in shoes must be worn at all times when in a moving buggy.
It’s a fairly remote location with minimal facilities so bring all your food and cooking gear, drinks, water, basic spare parts, tools, and anything you would usually take on a ride or when you go camping.
You shouldn’t need to carry additional fuel in your buggy, but if you are concerned about your fuel usage, feel free to carry some extra fuel in a safe location and in an approved container.
Be considerate to other club members and make sure your fellow riders do the same. If somebody does the wrong thing, it may not be just them that loses their club membership so help keep your Mates honest.
During a ride if you have an issue just pull over and the sweep rider will stop and assist you.
Take plenty of photos and videos with your phone and share them on the club Facebook group chat. If you get some good stuff on your action cams, please share it with us and we may include it in the club event video.
Preferred resolution for video to be used in the event youtube video is 16:9 30 or 60 fps and either 1080hd or 4k.
Most of all, have fun. This is one of the coolest things you can do in a SXS, so take a moment when you’re out there to stop, breathe, and just appreciate how lucky we are.
