When the Thicc Squad toured
Last Saturday Karls and Abs competed in their first sanctioned competition while turning plenty of heads at the Big Queen Energy meet in the
It presented a couple of little challenges with some new conditions they hadn’t lifted in, we walked away so proud of their efforts and results. Some very solid numbers first up, and both are excited to keep building and work towards showing off their skills at next years nationals. Keep your eye on these two because we’ve got a lot of room for growth at such early stages in their powerlifting careers.
Both placed first in their class, and took up two thirds of the overall podium, placing 2nd and 3rd of all lifters on the day.
Did I mention I’m proud AF?

Squats went great and while the 137.5 was a 7.5kg PB, it’s definitely no 1RM and we will blow that away next time.
Bench was a really good result given some shoulder complaints we’ve had restrict intensity and loads for most of the prep.
And her deads just about stole the show when she laughed at 155, completely roasted 165 and then fought like a demon to just fall short of a clean lockout at a massive 175kg

Like Karls, Abs pretty much took the p**s with her 137.5kg PB. Watch this space.
Bench however was another story and such a challenge. Warm ups flew and all seemed on track for her freakish bench ability to be on display. After hitting 77.5 and then an 80 TnG rep just 5 days out we were all extra keen. However, the platform proved impossible for her Chucks to grip. A shoe change and some massive soul searching by coach and lifter later, and she nailed a 75kg 3rd.
Deads went exactly as we wanted. Thank Fx$@😂
Over all a huge result for the ladies and the Thicc Squad.
