Some “old” photos I thought I’d share. Back into late 80’s and early 90’s. I was in my late 20s at the time. Days before digital. Remember when you had to take the roll of film to the photo lab for processing? As a blue belt dressed to be Shane Gregory’s tekki for his Shodan grading, my Green Belt grading, and promo shot in newly earned Black Gi and during my blackbelt grading.

In Karate, the beginning is filled with motivation, curiosity, and energy—but those emotions don’t last. What separates those who continue from those who quit is the ability to push through boredom, repetition, slow progress, and self-doubt. Most people are not defeated by difficulty, but by inconsistency and unrealistic expectations. The real challenge is not learning techniques—it’s staying committed when progress is invisible. That’s why finishing is rare: it demands discipline long after motivation is gone.

Please amend your dates/times for 2026.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to make some changes to the calendar for 2026. Most notably the Dan Gradings/Senjo will commence at 10am, and the Dan Grading/Senjo at the end of the year is now on Saturday 21st of November (a week earlier). Please amend your diaries accordingly. There is a link on the website to download a pdf version to print.
