2027 YOGA RETREAT ~ UBUD, BALI 🌴🌺🥥

✨ please note that half of our rooms have already been reserved ✨

Yes, we are heading back to stunning Ubud in 2027. Will you join us?

~ 27–31 MARCH 2027 ~

Join The Dharma House in Bali for another deeply nourishing immersion into Hatha Yoga, meditation, ritual, and the rich spiritual traditions that continue to shape daily life on the island.

Nestled amongst the tranquil rice fields of Ubud at The Shala Bali we’ll gather for daily yoga and meditation, sacred fire ceremony, visits to traditional water temples, nourishing meals, inspiring workshops, and meaningful experiences that offer a glimpse into the beauty and devotion woven through Balinese culture.

This retreat is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and be immersed in practices that honour both the inner and outer dimensions of yoga. (And did we mention the spa treatments are INCREDIBLE?)

HALF of our rooms have already been reserved! Will you be there too?

Everything you need to know is on the website. We cannot wait to welcome you home. 🙏🏽

Celebrating our wonderful Melissa today on her birthday ✨🧡 🎂

Many of you know Melissa as one of our teachers & our Assistant Studio Manager. What many people don’t see is just how much of The Dharma House she helps shape behind the scenes. 🫶🏽

When I first dreamed up this studio I imagined I would build it mostly solo. What I never expected was to find someone whose passion for Tradition and community matched my own.

Melissa isn’t just the person who keeps our invoicing + finances on track (thank goodness!). She’s the sounding board for many of the studio’s biggest ideas, the person I bounce decisions off, & the steady voice helping me work out what is worth pursuing & what isn’t.

She has an incredible ability to feel the pulse of our community…. to understand what people need, what support might be helpful, & when the timing is right for something new. Many of the things the studio has created over the years, including our retreats, simply wouldn’t have happened without her.

What I admire most though is that she does all of this from a genuine desire to be of service. ❤️
Melissa is thoughtful, deeply caring, reliable & always willing to step up when something needs to be done. She is wise, self-aware, puts her heart into everything she does, and she has an extraordinary ability to both support others & continue challenging herself to grow. 🌱 (she even minds my kids from time to time 😂)

Quite simply… I couldn’t ask for a better right-hand woman. Melissa, thank you for everything you bring to the studio & our community (and to my life).

Happy Birthday. The Dharma House is so lucky to have you! ❤️
xx Aimee

Why do we value traditional teachings? 🤔

One reason is because some things gather ‘Shakti’ over time.

A Sanskrit mantra, for example, has often been spoken, sung & contemplated by countless practitioners over hundreds or even thousands of years. In the yogic tradition, this accumulated potency is known as Shakti: a living creative power carried through a practice.

You can feel it in certain places too: an ancient temple, a family home filled with memories, a hall where people have gathered in devotion, celebration, or prayer… a presence has been built there over time.

Traditional teachings carry this same quality. They have been tested, refined & passed from one generation to the next, carrying the presence of those who walked the path before us.

Modern adaptations certainly have their place. But there is something uniquely powerful about stepping into a stream that has been flowing for centuries. ❤️‍🔥

MEET OUR TEACHERS: Amanda 🌿

Amanda Teixeira

If you’ve practiced with our teacher Amanda, you’ll know how nurturing her classes are and how much of a grounded, kind and supportive teacher she is. A gift to our community, we are incredibly grateful to have her teaching so regularly on our schedule. Let’s get to know Amanda….

FOUR QUESTIONS WITH AMANDA:

🌿 Four words to describe you:
Intense, curious, careful and happy. 💖🌈

🌿 What can people expect in a class with you?
A welcoming space to cultivate presence and curiosity. I always invite my students to approach their practice with curiosity: exploring the postures, becoming aware of each movement, noticing their breath, and enjoying the process as much as possible.

🌿 Which of the yamas or niyamas do you most resonate with?
Santosha (contentment) is my favorite niyama. It reminds me to be grateful for all that I already have instead of always wishing for more. It also reminds me to be fully present in each moment.

🌿 When you’re not teaching or practicing, what are you usually up to?
You’ll probably find me spending time in the sun, reading, journaling, or seeking new adventures outside!

YOU CAN CATCH AMANDA FOR HATHA YOGA CLASSES: in our 9:30am timeslots on Thursdays and (from 1 July) Thursdays, and this weekend filling the 7am Solar on Saturday.

The depth of life is often found in our relationship with the unseen. 🌺

If you’ve travelled through places like India or Bali, you may have noticed offerings, prayers, rituals, and moments of devotion woven into everyday life. Beyond culture or tradition, these practices serve as a reminder that there is more to life than what can be touched, measured, or possessed.

In a world that often draws our attention toward the visible, ritual invites us into relationship with mystery, meaning, and the sacred. (And maybe this is where much of life’s depth is found.)

🌺 MONTHLY KIRTAN: and Divine Meditation 📿🎵🌺

~ 6pm Saturday 27 June 2026 ~

Join Aimee, Chris, and Emmanuelle for an uplifting, Indian Yoga Ashram-style Kirtan (devotional chanting/singing) in the Shiva-Shakti tradition, followed by a Divine Meditation: a traditional guided breath practice with mantra, performed lying down.

No experience or musical talent required! All mantras will be clearly displayed for you to follow along. Expect to leave feeling connected, energised, and calm.

Donation-based entry ~ please bring cash to pay on arrival, all money raised is offered lovingly to a beautiful children’s school in India.

WINTER SOLSTICE FIRE CEREMONY 🔥🌺

A gathering of mantra, ritual, and inner turning.

~ 3PM SATURDAY 20 JUNE ~

The Winter Solstice marks the deepest point of the year; a threshold where darkness reaches its peak before slowly giving way to light.

This is an opportunity to pause, reflect on what has been lived, honour what is complete, and consciously step toward what is ready to emerge.

✨ Opening grounding practice
✨ Agni fire ritual
✨ 108 mantra recitations
✨ Space for stillness and integration

No experience necessary. Simply bring an open mind and heart.
