Recharging is different for everyone.

When talking emotionally recharging a big decider is our personality and wether we are an introvert or extrovert. Keep in mind you can be both 👋

Introverts need time away from others to recharge whereas extroverts usually find joy in being around others as part of their “recharge” time. Personalities with both traits sometimes require different needs.

Regardless “Recharging” is so important especially for those in socially demanding careers or environments.

Online training is great for those with a well-established training history and might just need a plan as they walk into the gym.

Online training is also great for beginners. My online training programmes come with detailed explanations of phases, workouts and exercises. Each exercise prescribed also comes with a video walkthrough. 1on1 movement screenings can also be available if needed.

🩹Optimising recovery

The key component of reaching your goals is recovery! Allowing your muscles to rebuild and repair is key to reaching your goals. My top recovery tips to optimise your recovery and help with plateaus are.....

1️⃣ Rest- Good quality sleep is extremely important this is one of the few times our body starts to repair muscle fibres and really allows the body to recover from exercise induced stress.

2️⃣Stretching- Stretching is so important and usually extremely overlooked. Lengthening the muscles after a strength session will help with increased range of motion, mobility and flexibility. Stretching also assists in preventing injury’s. stretching can also create a more aesthetically pleasing physique, improving an individuals posture.

3️⃣Good nutrition- a well thought out diet can impact massively on your goals. A diet rich in variety and full of nutrients will allow an efficient recovery. A restricted fad diet can impact greatly on future results and may impact recovery causing fatigue, injury and/or plateau through your training. ALWAYS consult a qualified professional when seeking diet or meal plans. Remember Personal trainers can only give you calorie and macro recommendations and never meal plans unless consulted with a Dietician or nutritionist.

4️⃣. Adaption- Allowing for adaptation is often overlooked. When teaching clients about the adaptation window for their programming we need to look at the intensity of the exercise being completed. Each style of training needs an allowance of a certain adaptation window. This is where personal training really stands out when delivering body composition results.

A little introduction ✌️

My name is Kara I’m 28 and I’m a fully qualified personal trainer. I believe in a holistic approach to health, fitness and happiness.

I started my own fitness journey at the age of 16 when my family bought me a pass to my local gym. Since then my training has evolved and changed over the years.

I have lived in 4 different states in Australia most recently was Perth. It was there that I discovered a need to change careers and dive into the fitness industry previously working in retail.

I started work as a body composition specialist, completing body scans for various events and gyms around Perth. Giving members tailored body composition advice dependent on their scan results and goals.

I completed a full year of full time face to face study at the leading educator for fitness at TAFE where not only did I finish my CertIII & CertIV but also completed various other courses and received an excellence award along with a Zonta women’s empowerment nominee.

I’ve had 3 different PTs of my own. My favourite style of training is hypertrophy and strength and at peak was deadlifting 100kg 1RM. I’ve been as low as 11% body fat and don’t ever plan on being lower.

For me it’s all about working smarter and not harder, building a positive relationship with your body, food and training. Doing what you love and feels right for your body.

1️⃣Find a mentor. Finding a mentor is all about finding someone who you aspire to be like who is already successful. Even if your a professional at what you do, having a mentor can greatly increase your skill set and keep you on track to reaching your goals.

2️⃣Find your tribe. Who you surround yourself with impacts greatly on your own success. If you find yourself feeling unsupported and unmotivated it may be time to look at changing that tribe. A tribe is also an amazing support system that you can lean on.

3️⃣Find the right coach for you. The best form of accountability is in the form of a good coach that has your interests at heart. But those interests shouldn’t just reflect into your training but also your lifestyle and mentality too.

Gratitude can change your life 👌

Harnessing the power of practicing gratitude is a tool that will help not only with your mental health but has been proven to also help physical health and reverse the impacts that stress plays on your body.

Here are my 4 steps to practicing gratitude..

1. Reflect on the good. It’s easy to always think about the bad, when you find yourself in this moment reflect back on the bad thought with something in your life that you feel lucky to have or experienced.

2. Write your blessings down. Try journalling 5 blessings down each day for 1 month.

3. Express thanks to others. The power of recognising the positive roles others play in your life will not only make them feel appreciated but will reinforce your gratitude towards their presence in your life.

4. Be mindful and feel. Practicing mindfulness when in a happy or enjoyable state is a great way to bookmark moments of gratitude for you to use later.

There's no better time to set your goals for the year!
- A lot of people don't know where to start when thinking of setting their goals and ambitions for the new year. The SMART principle is a great way to structure and really set out your goals and this is how to do it..

S= Specific, specify in detail your goal and your why!
M=Measure, is this a short term/ long term or ongoing goal?
A=Attainable, what do I need to do in order to attain this goal?
R=Realistic/Reevaluate, is this goal realistic? Will I need to reevaluate my progress at any given time?
T=Time, in what time frame would I like to see this goal out?

And lastly always write your goals down, even better share them with someone you trust to keep you accountable 👍

The importance of Hydration ⬇️

Performance= When you are not hydrated correctly your bodies ability to transport nutrients, flush lactic acid and help with blood flow to the muscles is greatly affected which causes poor performance.

Muscle Volume= Our muscles store water. So when your intercellular hydration is optimal your muscles will seem larger and more fuller.

Recovery= When dehydrated your bodies ability to utilise nutrients from food and transport nutrients for recovery is impacted. This can mean longer recovery time, plateau and overall slow growth and results.

Water Retention= Suprisingly being hydrated can help lower water retention. Provided your sodium intake is also optimal.

Fat Loss= Drinking water can assist you with burning more calories! The process at which your body has to go through in order to flush toxins and regulate your core temprature is amplified when consuming cold water regulary. Drinking more water will also increse satirity which means youll feel fuller for longer therefore not caving to snacks and high calorie quick fixes.

In 2019 I was nominated for the Zonta Women's empowerment award for facing adversity.

For those who don't know my story, it's been a long journey to reach my goal of achieving my dream career. Starting by traveling up to 5 hours a day to get face to face education with some of the best fitness professionals in NSW is only the tip of the iceberg.

Personal Training is my passion for me anything less than 100% in my studies was tough for me to handle. To complete my sports trainer accreditation there were a few weeks I was staying at tafe until 9pm then driving 2hours to get home, it almost broke me. I broke down one day when i was exhausted and wasnt understanding the content, it was at this moment one of my mentors taught me a valuable lesson in empowerment.

They sat with me and planned through my personal barriers. They brought back my "why" and my purpose. They empowered me through my own strength.

Through your Resiliance you will learn more than anyone who had it easy, through your struggle you will be able to teach those who are struggling.
