We have recently learned of the passing of past player Peter Ryan, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with dementia.

Peter came to Mt. Waverley in 1983 after playing District/Premier cricket with Fiztroy (85 1st XI games) and before that he had a good career in Queensland where he played a few Sheffield Shield games.

Peter played 35 - 1st XI games for us and scored 851 runs and one second XI match where he made 102 runs.

After leaving Mt. Waverley he played with a number of local ECA clubs including Marcellin Old Collegians Cricket Club.

A number of our past players have added the following items on Peter:

Richard Harris - Very sad news as I caught up with Pete regularly as he worked in the food service industry with myself for Chickadee and Steggles. Rippa bloke who loved a beer after a trade show and we would coordinate our distributor visits along the Murray River so there was time for 9 holes in the afternoon. Remember the 102 he made in the seconds as I got 80 odd that day. Was against Dandenong at Mount. Think we put on over 150 partnership. Again very sad to hear.

John Morris - I remember playing with him at Mount …. Stylish batsmen good bloke I think he also played at Fitzroy before us. Called peewee ….
We would coordinate our visits to country Victoria when I was with Avco …… long dinners !

Wayne Hynes - Peter was a great guy.
Very stylish and technical batsman.
Remember opening the batting with him at Ivanhoe in 1's late on day 1 and it was quite dark. Ivanhoe opening bowler and was express in the dark but Peter played him beautifully. Top guy.

Stuart Stockdale - remembers playing against him in 1968 at Assumption College before he went to Fitzroy.
it’s the same P*e Wee ex Qld but previously Vic and Assumption College. I recall he was a very, very good and elegant batter BUT I got him caught behind at Kilmore in 1968. Only issue was he was on 178 at the moment and the keeper did not know why I appealed !

A few highlights from our Senior Presentation Night on Saturday 18 April 👏

It was a fantastic evening bringing the club together to celebrate the season that was, with plenty of great moments shared across all our senior sides. Congratulations to all our award winners, your efforts, consistency and commitment throughout the year haven’t gone unnoticed.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the night such a success. We’re also grateful to The Nott for hosting us, and to our sponsors, donors and organising committee for the ongoing support behind the scenes that keeps the club thriving.

Enjoy a well-earned break over the off-season, and we look forward to seeing everyone back around Mount Waverley Cricket Club for an even bigger 2026/27 🏏

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in this season at Mount Waverley Cricket Club.

To our players across all grades, you’ve represented the club brilliantly. Having three senior sides reach Grand Finals says a lot about the standards across the group. A special mention as well to our women’s program, your commitment, growth, and the way you’ve represented the club this season has been outstanding, and it’s great to see that side of the club continuing to build and push deep into finals.

Our junior program continues to set the tone, with 21 teams playing finals cricket. That speaks to the depth, coaching, and environment being built right across the club.

To all the parents and families, thank you for the time and effort you put in every week. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

To our supporters and sponsors, whether you’re in the rooms, around the boundary, or just following along, your support genuinely lifts the community.

A big thank you as well to our ground staff and Monash City Council, especially for the quick support after the recent vandalism at the ground. It meant we could keep things moving without disruption.

There’s a lot to like about where this club is at, strong numbers, real depth, and a good mix coming through.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back for pre-season ahead of 2026/27.

There’s something special about seeing the next generation of the Mount Waverley cricketers rise to the occasion.

Our junior program has delivered another outstanding season. Of our 25 teams, 21 competed in finals formats, and 14 progressed to semi-finals, a remarkable effort right across the board. Even more impressively, all six of our Under 13 ISEC teams made finals, a testament to the strength and consistency of the program.

A special mention to our Under 13 sides, proudly carrying names synonymous with Mount Waverley Cricket Club’s history and success. Robbins (Wilson Shield), Troake (Bienvenu Shield), Beckett (Halvy Shield), Boyce (Singh Shield), Boyle (Hughes Shield) and Golding (Giminez Shield), names that represent legacy, leadership and the standard we strive to uphold.

We also celebrate four premiership-winning teams:
U13C Sun Boyce (ISEC, mixed)
U14A Wed Mackay (AGCC, girls)
U15A Fri Viccars (ISEC, mixed)
U15A Sun Roach (ISEC, boys)

To repeat this level of success from last season speaks volumes.

To every junior player who wore the blue and white with pride, to the parents, coaches, team managers and volunteers who make it all possible, thank you. This achievement belongs to all of you. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and support towards the development of our young cricketers 🩵

The future of the Mighty Roos is in safe hands 🦘💙

Check out our last Senior Result for the year - and it’s a premiership!!

A great win for our 2s, who capped off a dominant home & away season with three strong finals results & the flag.

Shaan Loganathan was named the Geoff Turner Player of the Match for his match-turning 76, having come to the crease when we were 6/69 in our first innings.

He put on a final wicket stand of 68 with Patty Schmitt who made 40* and took 2/20 in another match defining performance.

Congrats to all the players and their families and supporters that helped them through the season and over the weekend.

Big thank you to for all their help this week.

Last weekend Mount Waverley Reserve was vandalised causing significant damage to the power infrastructure at the whole reserve.

The council have done a wonderful job during the week to both re-connect the power and also prepare the ground for our 2nd XI Grand Final - which is underway now despite the adverse weather.

We are very grateful to have such a supportive team at helping us throughout the season and especially in difficult situations like this week.

If you’re in the area get down and support the team bring a flag to our new home!!
