⚓️ WEEKEND SENIOR RESULTS | MARINERS ROUND-UP ⚓️
Results don’t always tell the full story, and this weekend was a perfect example. Across our senior program there were performances full of character, determination and belief ❤️💙
🔴 State League 7 Men
❌ 1-4 vs Endeavour Hills Fire
⚽️ Lucas Harding
The scoreline suggests a comfortable afternoon for Endeavour Hills, but those who watched the game know it was anything but.
The Mariners matched one of the competition’s stronger sides for large periods and once again showed the growth that has been building over recent weeks. There were passages where Mount Martha controlled possession, won key battles through midfield and looked capable of causing real problems.
Lucas Harding continued his strong season with the Mariners goal, while the group never stopped competing despite the challenge in front of them.
One thing that continues to stand out is the willingness of this squad to keep turning up, keep fighting and keep backing each other in. The wins will come. The foundations are being built and there is a genuine belief around this group that better days are ahead.
⚓️ Keep the faith Mariners.
🔴 Men’s Reserves
✅ 2-1 vs Endeavour Hills Fire
⚽️⚽️ Jordan Armour
Now this was a Mariners performance.
Playing the entire match with 10 men, fielding two 16-year-olds, including Brendan Loois making his senior debut in goals, the reserves somehow found a way to claim all three points in one of the gutsiest victories seen this season.
New recruit Kai Johnson was thrown into an unfamiliar right-back role and didn’t just survive — he starred. Defending strongly, driving forward whenever he had the opportunity and winning both penalties that ultimately decided the match.
Jordan Armour showed nerves of steel from the spot, burying both penalties, while Brendan Loois produced several crucial saves, including a terrific stop in a one-on-one situation that kept the Mariners in the contest.
The defensive unit of Liam Piper and Harry McLachlan stood tall all afternoon, repeatedly dealing with long balls and aerial pressure. In midfield, Camilo, Jordan, Az and Sam Agg simply refused to stop running, tackling and competing.
When Endeavour Hills equalised early in the second half and the wind intensified, it felt like the game could easily get away from the Mariners. Instead, they dug even deeper.
After Kai’s second powerful run into the box earned another penalty and Jordan converted, the final 20 minutes became an exercise in courage, determination and sheer stubbornness.
Every tackle mattered. Every clearance mattered. Every player emptied the tank.
And when the final whistle blew, it wasn’t just three points.
It was a reminder of what this club is all about.
Young players stepping up. Teammates sacrificing for each other. Everyone finding a way when the odds are stacked against them.
Man of the Match? Honestly, all bloody 10 of them. 👏👏👏
🔴 State League 3 Women
❌ 2-5 vs Skye United
⚽️ Signe Hardt
⚽️ Jade Sollner
The final scoreline doesn’t do justice to what was a fantastic contest against the league leaders.
The Mariners came out full of confidence and intent, taking the game to top-of-the-table Skye United from the opening whistle. Their positive approach was rewarded in the 15th minute when 16-year-old Signe Hardt opened the scoring after Mount Martha had already created several promising opportunities.
Skye responded to level the scores, but the Mariners refused to take a backward step. They continued to attack with purpose and were rewarded again in the 36th minute when Jade Sollner restored the lead, sending the large Civic Reserve crowd into celebration.
With many club members gathered for the Socceroos watch party later that evening, the atmosphere around the ground was fantastic and the girls gave everyone plenty to cheer about.
Unfortunately, Skye found an equaliser just before half time before edging ahead early in the second half. Despite that setback, Mount Martha continued to push for a result and remained well and truly in the contest.
Two late goals ultimately stretched the margin and flattered the final scoreline, but there was plenty to admire about the performance. To lead the competition leaders twice and challenge them for so long is a credit to the development, confidence and quality within this group.
A tremendous effort against one of the best sides in the league. 👏
🔴 State League 6 Women
🤝 1-1 vs Hampton Park United Sparrows
⚽️ Sophie Mills
Another strong performance from the SL6 women who were desperately unlucky not to walk away with all three points.
Sophie Mills continued her excellent form in front of goal, while Amelie Hall, Aeva Lombardi, Sophie Mills and Cheree Laws were among the standout performers.
The Mariners created numerous chances in the final 20 minutes and were pressing hard for a winner. On another day, they come away with the result they deserved.
A fantastic team performance and another sign of the progress this group continues to make. ❤️💙
🇦🇺 SOCCEROOS WATCH PARTY 🇦🇺
A huge congratulations to the Socceroos and a massive thank you to everyone who came down to Civic Reserve throughout the day and night to support our women’s teams and enjoy the watch party.
The atmosphere around the club was outstanding and a great reminder of what makes the Mariners community so special.
📸 Plenty more photos from the day still to come!
