We promise we haven’t paddled off into the sunset with all the photos and results… 😅

Between juggling travelling, work and trying to remember what day it is, our small committee are doing the best they can to get everything sorted from the Gregory River Canoe Marathon 🚣‍♂️

CANADIAN CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS AND ALL THE CONTROVERSY

It wasn't all plain sailing in the highly contested Canadian Challenge Race.

Whilst the Cobras took line honours and the Cloncurry Crocodiles took home the coveted esky full of the good stuff, there was drama, sportsmanship and a bit of chaos for some of the other teams.

Team No Rowgrets fell out just before the finish line, seemingly handing Team Nunya third place....until the timing wizardry began.

Team In Deep Ship had helped a fellow paddler and their time was originally reduced by 20 minutes, which would have dropped Nunya to fourth. After much committee debate (and a few "seriously" looks), the time was reduced by 15 minutes, keeping the spirit of the race alive and earning In Deep Ship $100 for their awesome sportsmanship.

🏁For the first time in history, the recreational short course started at The Knobbies and finished at CP2. t's taken me a week to get all your results into the computer....but they're finally in!🥳

Check them out and give yourselves a pat on the back - especially for surviving the Kamaga 1 portage👊

It wouldn’t be the Gregory River Canoe Marathon without our traditional dinner in the river.

A huge thank you to Al and Tav Cameron and Mark Thinee for cooking the best roast dinner for 140+ people every year.

Best way to start the weekend.

Pete Trimble was the first boat to cross the finish line, but with adjusted start times John VanRyt took out the overall win.

There were only 6 minutes between them and Pete goes home with the Men’s Masters 2 race record of 3.30.52.

Maybe it was that Meek paddle - Chad Meek and Matt Flower still hold the race record from 2001 with a time of 2.43.
