The Mount Isa School of Dance is a full-service dance studio with a proven track record of nurturing young girls and boys to reach their full potential. We are dedicated to the delivery of quality dance training to children from 3 years in a professional, friendly and safe environment. Whether your child dances for fun, to make new friends, improve fitness and poise or to lay the foundation for a

career in the arts, the Mount Isa School of Dance has a class to challenge and engage students of all ages and abilities. We are the only dance school in Mount Isa to offer opportunities for students to benchmark their skills against internationally recognised examination syllabi in Ballet (RAD), Tap and Jazz (CTSD). We also have regular performance opportunities through our Junior and Senior performance groups, as well as our annual concert showcase. A long-time fixture of the Mount Isa community, the Mount Isa School of Dance is a non-profit organisation administered by a dedicated group of teachers and enthusiastic parents. At the end of last month, a number of our students completed their RAD Ballet exam or award. These exams are sat each year by over a quarter of a million students in over 80 countries worldwide, so we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer this opportunity to our Outback ballerinas 🩰

Our welcome email with loads of information for the year will be coming out today. In the meantime, we have had a play with our portal settings and it now lists which hall your classes are running at.

Select the view enrolments section from the left hand menu and then you can view all your child’s classes including their location.

Please take the time today to check your child’s enrolments and if you need to make changes you can email us at [email protected].

As we count down to the start of dance in 2026, we would like to take a moment to recognise those dancers who were presented with awards at our break up celebration in 2025.

🌟 Our level award winners - recognised for their dedication to dance in 2025 were:
Sage Garcia (Level 1), Zoey Pratt (Level 2), Lola Coquille (Level 3), Laney Thompson (Level 4), Lucy Field (Level 5), Keira Beattie (Level 6), Nicole Pengo (Level 7), Jasmine Pye (Level 8) and Meadow Shaw (Level 9).

🌟 Our genre award winners - recognised for their efforts to grow and improve in a particular genre in 2025 were:
Bella Dolzan (Ballet), Hazel Wills (Jazz), Priyanka Kumar (Tap), Imogen Grosser (Contemporary), Riley Candy-Humphries (Hip Hop), Adeline Gear (Musical Theatre) and Jaime Ri Angon (Acro).

🌟 Honourable Mention Awards: Aurelia Armstrong, Macey Binnie, Olivia Bird, Ava Faulkner, Mavis Kahler-Viene.

🌟 The Elliott Family Award for consistent progress and dedication to dance: Sydney McLachlan and the Overall Improvement Award for a student who has strived to improve across all genres throughout the year: Nefertiti Mbaogu.

🌟 Finally, our Junior and Senior Dancers of the Year - recognised for their outstanding achievements in dance in 2025 were Rachael Lovett and Logan Larrigo, and the Leanne Ryder Spirit of MISD was awarded to Sophie Donegan.

We would also like to congratulate our 2025 MISD Graduate students Abbie Firth, Gabby Dolzan, Sophie Papadopoulos and Logan Larrigo. MISD have loved watching you all grow into amazing young adults over your time with us. We are so proud of you! 🥰🤩

In our final event for the year, this afternoon we held a graduation and end of year celebration for our amazing student teaching group. We recognised the 8 student teachers who completed the program in 2025, as well as those who have been with us for a number of years. This hard working group have attended meetings twice a term to learn about various aspects of dance teaching, as well as assisting our teachers during classes.

Congratulations to Ava, Bella, Hannah, Hayley, Jasmine, Logan, Nikki and Sophie D🤩 as well as our previous graduates Abbie, Gabby, Meadow and Sophie P.

A huge thank you to Miss Peta, Miss Shaylee and the rest of our teaching team who have mentored the students and delivered the program. We hope you all have a well deserved rest over the holidays 💙🩵
