Official Update – Showcase Rounds

To our Wolves community, supporters, players, families, sponsors and partners,

We’re disappointed to share that our first PVL showcase round will no longer proceed as planned.

We have looked forward to these events, which have been part of our long-term commitment to growing the game through meaningful, community-driven initiatives over the past two years. These rounds are important opportunities to bring people together and showcase our sport at its best. We continue to believe strongly in their value to the growth of volleyball in our community.

Due to scheduling challenges, communication breakdowns, competition requirements, and a lack of alignment from participating clubs, our event has been cancelled following discussions with Volleyball Queensland. While we respect the processes in place, we share in the disappointment of this outcome and believe it is a setback for the continued growth of showcase opportunities within the Premier Volleyball League.

Our focus now turns to Round 9 on Saturday 18 July, where we will deliver our remaining showcase event for 2026, alongside a club that shares a strong commitment to growing the game and supporting its future direction.

As a club, we firmly believe Premier Division teams have a responsibility to actively contribute to the growth of the sport. Showcase events play a critical role in building spectatorship, strengthening community connection, and elevating the standard and visibility of our competition. We remain committed to leading in this space and setting a benchmark for what Premier Volleyball can and should be.

We also acknowledge the significant effort required to deliver community sport at this level, with volunteers balancing full-time work alongside the demands of organising and delivering competition events. We believe there is a continued opportunity for stronger collaboration, clearer support, and improved alignment across all stakeholders to better support the growth of the game.

We ask our community to get behind our final showcase round in July as we aim to deliver an event that reflects the passion, energy, and standard our sport, our players, and our community deserve.

Meet Coach Shane

Shane joined the Wolfpack in 2025 and has quickly become a valued part of the Wolves coaching group. Bringing with him a wealth of playing experience, Shane has embraced the opportunity to pass on his knowledge and help athletes grow both on and off the court. His sessions are built around learning, connection, and getting the best out of every individual.

For Shane, coaching at Wolves is about more than skills and systems — it’s about people. As he puts it, “I like being around a group of like-minded and motivated individuals keen to learn and get their best out of themselves in what they do, and create a sense of belonging in everything we do together.”

Meet Coach Tony

Tony has been a mainstay of the Wolfpack for the last few years, bringing experience, calm leadership, and a genuine love for the game into our gym. As a father of two, Tony balances family life with coaching and continues to show that there’s a place at Wolves for coaches at every stage of life. His commitment and impact were recognised in 2025 when he was named AYVC Coach of the Tournament — a reflection of the respect he’s earned from players and peers alike.

For Tony, coaching at Wolves is about giving kids the same positive environment he wants for his own children — one built on learning, support, and strong values. He says, “Since joining in 2022, I’ve valued being part of a professional, well-run environment that has given me the opportunity to coach and develop elite youth talent, train in outstanding facilities, and continue learning alongside great coaches.”
