Blue Lake Archers continue to prepare behind the scenes for the National and State indoor championships. A small change has been made for when the July the 5th Championship rolls around at the local venue, the practice start time has been shifted to 11.30am. This alteration will allow the attending archers to have an early lunch before starting the practice session leading into the day’s competitions.
The local archery scene has noted that the beginner’s sessions at Corriedale Park are continuing to attract good interest, Louise Abbott and Paul Freeman guiding the potential archers on their first steps into archery on Sunday mornings.
A variety of competition rounds of both outdoor and indoor have attracted smaller numbers but have maintained keen competition. Brayden White was the first up winner in the recent rounds, claiming a Melbourne outdoor round win. Ben Kilsby took out three of the remaining five recent rounds but has not had it all his way, Graham Lock and Paul Freeman both claiming a single win each. Freeman was unlucky to not have two wins; a tie break countback going in Kilsby’s favour after both had finished on an adjusted score of 290 points at the conclusion of an indoor round.
Upcoming events: indoor archery at Blue Lake Gymnastics Club, Malseed Park Friday at 7 pm followed by outdoor archery at Corriedale Park 12.30pm Sunday.
