𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 | 𝗠𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀

We're now down to the pointy end of the Singles at the 2026 Novice State Carnival. We've got 3 livestreamed matches for you tomorrow.

Up first is the Men's Singles Quarter-finals. The two on livestream have had a great journey to get to this point. Narre Warren's David Inifer had a great 21-14 win in the round of 16, where his opponent Mt Eliza's Glenn Capuano had a great come from behind 21-19 win in his round of 16 game. Other quarterfinal matchups include Moe's John Williams vs ACBC's Eddy Micallef. Both had close wins in the round of 16 with John winning 21-18 and Eddy winning 21-16. Werribee's Robert Culliver finds himself squaring off against Sebastopol's David Ellis. Both had huge wins in their round of 16 game with Robert winning 21-10 and David winning 21-3. Our final matchup in the quarterfinals is EEBC's Cedric Linderboom vs Strathfieldsaye's Glenn Roulston. Cedric was all over the long ends this morning winning 21-15, and Glenn had a great 21-9 win in his round of 16 game.

Now let's go over to the Women's Singles, who will start their Semi-final matches alongside the Men's Quarter-finals. Mentone Edge's Andrea Gilcrist had a great 21-16 win over Wallan's Donna Kelly in the Quarter-finals. She plays Stanhope's Shirlene Hislop, who had a nailbiting 21-19 win against Sunbury's Ashleigh Busby. The other side of the bracket sees Ivanhoe's Sue Scully take on Keilor's Karen Dunball. Sue had a big 21-6 win in the Quarterfinals against Lockington's Cindy Felmingham, and Karen had a 19-14 win against Moonee Ponds's Adrienne Laughton where Karen managed to get over the line before the game was timed out.

The Presentation Night for 2026 is now complete. While a number of finalists were not present, over 90 members joined in to celebrate the year's accomplishments by our members. Congratulations to all our players.

In just 2️⃣days, Victoria's newest bowlers will converge on the Greater Shepparton region for a week of fun and competition at the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, shared his excitement about the Novice Championships returning to Shepparton.

"We are thrilled to welcome the Victorian Novice Championships to our region for the second year of this three-year partnership. This event not only showcases the incredible talent of emerging bowlers but also provides a fantastic opportunity to highlight the world-class facilities and vibrant community here in Shepparton,” he said.

“We look forward to working alongside Bowls Victoria to deliver a memorable experience for both participants and visitors, while continuing to support the growth of bowls in our region.”

Best of luck to our Division 1 and Division 10(8) teams as they compete in the preliminary finals at home, starting at 1pm today. Go Pellies!

Our Saturday sides have achieved impressive results, with three out of five teams advancing to the Grand Final in two weeks. Despite losses today, Divisions 1 and 10(8) will have a second chance to compete against Rosebud and Village Glen next week. Well done Pellies!

Congratulations to all our pennant teams both Midweek and Saturday. Of our 14 sides entered 6 have made the finals - 1 in Midweek and 5 in Saturday. Well done to everyone!

This Saturday 28 Feb our 5 sides play, with 3 home finals in Divs 1,3&9 as they finished in 1st place! Divisions 4&10(8) play at Beleura and Balnarring respectively and we wish all teams success.

Our midweek side have already played the semi final and in a thrilling finish, defeated Mt Martha to go straight through to the GF. That is being played on Tuesday 3 March at Mornington Civic where they once again play against Mt Martha.

Get along and support the teams playing Saturday and especially for the Grand Final on Tuesday. GO PELLIES!
