Eleven names on a sheet. One identity on the pitch. Female Football Week is a reminder that the game was never just about goals, trophies or highlights. It was always about what happens when a group of women decide to build something together. The trust formed in training. The hands pulled up after a fall. The quiet belief that runs through a dressing room before the whistle goes.

That is the part no camera fully captures. And that is the part that makes everything else possible. To every woman and girl who has ever been part of this club, this week is for you. Not just for what you give on the pitch, but for what you give to each other. That is what togetherness looks like. That is what this game is built on.

Together, forward.

For too long, the question wasn't how good she was - it was whether there was a place for her at all. In 1921, the first official women's football match in Australia drew a crowd of 10,000 in Brisbane - proof the appetite was always there. Within a year, that momentum was crushed, with states banning women from playing organised matches on so-called "medical and aesthetic" grounds. She was told the game wasn't for her. She kept showing up anyway. It took over a century, and the influence of barriers set as far away as England to slow something that was never truly stoppable. Female Football Week is a reminder that the question has changed. That the game is bigger when more people are in it. That the shirt fits her just as well. That being part of a team - a real team, with a role, a responsibility, and a reason to show up every week - is one of the most powerful things sport can give a person. Find your place. Earn your spot. Be someone's reason to start.

Together, forward.

Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers who are the heart of our football community.

To the mums working tirelessly behind the scenes in administration, managing teams, volunteering in the canteen, washing kits, organising schedules, and supporting every matchday with a smile, thank you.

To all the football mums helping their children prepare, encouraging them through every challenge, and standing proudly on the sidelines each week, your impact goes far beyond the game.

Your care, sacrifice, commitment, and love help create the environment our players grow and thrive in every single day.

From everyone at Western City Rangers, Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums in our community 🙏🏼

The Talent Support Program (TSP) from is a games-based program, where the top players from Sydney metro play regular high-level matches against each other and A-League academies.

The purpose of TSP is to provide an increased number of talented players exposure to a high-quality environment and an increase in high quality games. Further, it will enhance the process for talent identification and selection of representative teams and provide additional opportunities for benchmarking and identification for national teams.

In the FNSW TSP their key words are Adaptable, Brave and Creative and we certainly encourage our players to take on these attributes.

Let's congratulate our players (2011/12 born) who were identified from FNSW’s latest visit last month.:

The window for learning is wide open right now. Not just tactically and technically, but emotionally and socially. Building the discipline to show up, compete, and grow from successes and failures. The Junior Development League at WCRFC was built for exactly this stage of the journey. Because the habits formed now shape the player and the person they become.
