Hi Yogis!
One of the gifts of yoga is self-awareness, we are more able to notice how we are and what we need in order to feel good.
Observation is not the same as judgement. Judgement is unhelpful, critical, negative. It prevents clarity and forward movement. Self-awareness, open observation, is differentβ¦
If you come to yoga: how do you feel and how does your week flow?
If you donβt come to yoga: how do you feel and how does your week flow?
Simply asking the question may be enough, because once you see it, you cannot unsee it π
With self-enquiry, you notice cause and effect. Not βrightβ or βwrongβ, βgoodβ or βbadβ β¦ just if I do βthisβ I then feel like βthatβ. You can apply this simple practice to choices in every area of your life.
Iβve been working with self-enquiry and noticing I feel so much better for simply pausing, asking βhow will I feel if β¦?β and making a decision that lines up with the feeling I want to experience.
Because if nothing changes, nothing changes!
Hereβs a simple example: after teaching evening yoga, I have a wind down snack. Generally, itβs whatever is quick & handy (cheese & biccies). Recently Iβve been making black rice pudding during the day so that I have something warm, nourishing, and ready to eat in the evening. It's enjoyable and feels better in my body. Itβs not hard, itβs not expensive, it just takes a little tapas (discipline).
This observation of cause and effect is an opportunity to cultivate a greater level of happiness, wellbeing, and fulfilment for yourself.
I am offering you a practice this week around this yogic practice of Svadhyaya (self-enquiry) which is a tool for a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life. See you soon!
