Sending a big thank you to the South Australian Sled Dog Club for sponsoring flight costs for Gabriele Altermann NZ to Race Marshal for the 2026 Trophy Race IFSS World Cup.

The competition was fierce over the two days, with high levels of professionalism and dog welfare. Temperatures were below freezing for both mornings which allowed the water crossings to be extra enticing 😉 Congratulations to all competitors and DID holders!

Nils, I will miss you and thank you for teaching me valuable skills, you are a superb mentor. Enjoy your retirement.

Today we say thank you to a true pillar of our sport 💙
Nils H. Finsrud, our Number 1 Race Marshal, is retiring from his role as IFSS Race Marshal.
Did you know Nils has been an IFSS judge since 2010 — and in reality, his judging journey goes all the way back to 1986?!
Wow. What a legacy.
On behalf of IFSS, we would like to thank Nils for his dedication, his professionalism, and everything he has contributed to the sleddog community over the years.
And from many of us athletes… thank you, Nils.
For every lesson during Team Leaders’ meetings, for your calm presence at the start lines, for your patience, your stories, and all the shared moments that shaped our experiences in this sport.
You have been more than an official — you have been a mentor, a guide, and part of our journey.
Now it’s time to enjoy the next chapter — more motorcycling, more freedom, and hopefully still a few stops around our races 😉
We may see you less at the start line, but your impact will stay with us for a long time.
Thank you, Nils 💙

Hello Oceania, I’m Zahra and I’m pleased to be stepping into the role of IFSS Oceania Continental Director for the next two years.

I’m based in South Australia and run Team Goldrush, where my partner and I breed, train, and race Eurohounds, GSPs, and huskies. I’ve been involved in the sport as a competitor and organiser supporting sled dog racing in Australia since 2014.

I would like to extend a big thank you to Gabriele Altermann for everything she has contributed to Oceania over the last four years. I’m grateful for the hard work she has done to help connect our region with the wider community, she is one of the best.

My goals moving forward are to create more opportunities for learning, training, and connection for officials, juniors, competitors, vets, and clubs across Oceania.

My line is open for anyone who has questions or ideas they’d like to see supported in our region.

Zahra Goldsmith
IFSS Oceania Continental Director
