***Metamorphic Rejuvenation***

We are super excited to share some great news with the MTB community!

Working closely with the Redland City Council, the Mt Cotton Riders Alliance is progressing works to rejuvenate the top section of Metamorphic.

Its been a long term goal of the Club to have this section of trail rectified to provide a sustainable, progressive and exciting section of trail worthy of the push up the hill!

This will be happening in a number of stages:

Stage 1 - The RCC will engage a contractor to work on the the first 200-300m of trail, from approximately where the fire trail ends to the bitumen road

Stage 2 - The MRCA will engage the same contractor to establish a new "A" line feature immediately adjacent to a section of these works, with new sign posting

Stage 3 - The MRCA will jointly work with the RCC to revegetate sections of redundant trail and secondary lines

Stage 4 - An audit conducted for the following 500-600m to plan further rejuvenation and realignment options to provide better flow , progression and carrying of speed into the mid section of the trail.

The second stage will be fully funded by the Club as a result of the donations received from Rocky Trail Entertainment and we wanted to thank them for the continued support to both our Club and the wider Redlands MTB Community.

Watch our page and the Redland City Council page for updates on trail closures and contractor works dates.

The Mt Cotton Riders Alliance was very humbled to be nominated as a finalist in the Redlands Coast 2026 Australia Day Awards in the category of Environment and Sustainability.

Last night Club President Nigel Kruger and Treasurer Ken Walter attended the awards ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the Club Committee, our members and the Mt Cotton riding community.

We want to thank the team at the Redland City Council for nominating our Club, this demonstrates the hard work in establishing a collaborative model of trail care whereby the local community works alongside the landowner to deliver sustainable environmental outcomes for all trail users.

We would like to thank:

Our Committee members Nick Goodair, Rob Nightingale and James Wakefield for your dedication and time in establishing, running and supporting this program.

The Redlands City Council for their trust and support in allowing the local community to contribute to the best trails in Southeast Queensland.

And of course all our members and volunteers that turn up each month and get their hands dirty clearing run off drains, raking trails and building features, without all of you this wouldn't be possible.

Lastly, we want to give a special mention to Patopotamus Mellifluous Janes who many in our community know as one of the hardest working trail care coordinators and volunteers in the Redlands. Your commitment in coordinating the trail care programs in the Bayview and Redlands Track Park and still managing to turn up and swing a rake for us is commendable!

This is what trail care collaboration looks like!

A great morning yesterday reinstating a key feature on Blacking Out, at the Eastern Escarpment Conservation Area.

After a long journey, the Mt Cotton Riders Alliance and Redland City Council are working together to ensure the sustainable management of this trail network for all users.

We even got to use our new equipment, our plate compactor AKA "Thor's Hammer" to bed in the lander that our volunteers sweated over constructing. This couldn't have happened without the support of Jo Parker and the team at Rocky Trail Entertainment and their kind donations towards the trail care program.

And the collaboration does not stop there, as of now the trail care trailer and all the equipment are being shared by the MCRA with the other trail care programs run by the RATS Cycling Club in Scribbly Gums and Bayview Conservation Area, ensuring our collaboration benefits all trails across the Redlands Coast.

From the committee and members we want to thank everyone who helped us get here:

Rocky Trail Entertainment
Redland City Council
All Mountain Solutions
Trailworx
Dan Crawford and the former team at BORRA
All our former club sponsors DHC Coffee Co., Dirty Possum, Rival Bikes, Pushys

****BLACKING OUT TRAIL CHANGE GAP JUMP CLOSURE****

Please be aware, whilst we are opening Blacking Out after today's trail care, the gap jump after the chute will remain closed for 24 hours to allow time to dry and settle.

It is taped off and we ask everyone to respect the closure so it's in prime condition when we open on Tuesday.
