WA Athletics Stadium WA’s premier athletics centre and the home of athletics in Western Australia. The infield also accommodates soccer and rugby.

WA Athletics Stadium is WA’s premier athletics centre and the home of the sport in Western Australia. Opened in 2009, the stadium features a nine-lane, 400m Mondo track built to IAAF standards, supporting a full range of track and field events including pole vault, discus and steeplechase. Spectators can enjoy events from the 2,000-seat grandstand or the surrounding grassed banks, which hold up to 10,000 people. The venue hosts international, national, state and local meets, school carnivals, training sessions and community events. The stadium is also home to Athletics West and is a key venue for the Western Australian Institute of Sport, supporting both emerging and elite athletes.

✨ Championing Dreams Since ’86 – Kurtis Marschall ✨

For Olympic pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall,
WA Athletics Stadium has been a constant throughout his career.

It’s where he’s trained for some of the biggest competitions in the world, achieved countless personal bests and created memories that have stayed with him – including clearing 5.80m in 2020 to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

Since this interview was recorded, Kurtis has gone on to win gold in the men’s pole vault at the 2026 Commonwealth Games – another incredible milestone in an already remarkable career.

There is no vehicle access to WA Athletics Stadium or Perth HPC via Underwood Avenue for the remainder of today (Friday 17 July).
