🐝🐝 Save the date - BUSY BEE - Saturday 19 September 2026 🐝🐝

Calling all club legends. Yes, you, you know who you are!

It's that time of year again, when the Polo Bears are lifted out of winter hibernation by the strong arms of our busy bees! As always, we're going to need all hands on deck this year to get OUR pool and surrounding areas spruced up and ready for the upcoming summer season of water polo.

As we say each year, many hands makes light work. And this year, there's lots of work to be done! So it would be great to see as many people as possible pop down to the pool and do your little bit for the club.

Those with whipper snippers, brooms, rakes, blowers and window wipers - please bring them along to assist.

Pop down and lend a hand. Hope to see you all there💪

🚨 CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

We would like to announce an exciting new chapter in the leadership of our Club!

Peter Hughes will step into the newly created role of Technical Director of Coaching, while continuing to serve as Club President. This appointment recognises Peter's deep coaching expertise and vision for elevating standards across all levels of the Club.

Peter's legacy with our Club runs deep:

🔹 A 100-game A-Grade player.

🔹 The driving force behind our Club's affiliation with the University of WA in 2016 and bringing the UWA Torpedoes AWL program under the Club's umbrella in 2014.

🔹 Led the UWA Torpedoes to a national championship win in 2016 and served as the inaugural Chairman of the Australian Water Polo League Advisory Committee for five years from 2017.

🔹 An accomplished coach at the elite level – before the national league existed coached our A-Grade team to its first premiership in 1989,

🔹 WA State U18 Boys' team coach.

🔹 A driving force behind our Club's high-performance regional expansion into the Mid-West.

🔹 Coach of the City Beach / UWA Men's Team of the Quarter Century (25 Years)

Peter will bring his wealth of coaching knowledge and elite-level experience to shape the technical and coaching direction of UWA Water Polo Club along with the implementation of the 2026/27 coaching plan.

Congrats to Tommy Gamble and the team representing Australia in Zagreb over the last week. The boys had mixed results:

🌼 Spring is just around the corner…although someone forgot to tell our pool it’s still winter.

It’s been sitting at a beautiful 28°C all season, making those chilly Perth mornings and evenings just that little bit easier.

Warm water. Crystal-clear conditions. Blue skies. Spotless Pool. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

Whether you’re looking to take your game to the next level in our Winter Performance Programme, develop your skills through our Winter Academy, or you’re counting down to FlippaBall and DSC returning this summer, there’s never been a better time to be part of the UWA Water Polo Club.

Congratulations to Alexia and the U16 Girls who finished 7️⃣th at the World Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Zagreb, Croatia 💪

The team went right down to the wire with New Zealand in the 7th/8th playoff, with Australia edging a thrilling 8–7 victory. 💪
