We are very excited to be apart of these projects bringing trails for all ages to the fleurieu.
Tracks, trails and a pump track, we're pumped for what is coming in 2021!
Thanks to Federal stimulus funding three priority trails projects will kick off in the this year: multi-use trails and infrastructure in the Second Valley Forest, a pump track at the Yankalilla Youth Park and an extension of the Carrickalinga foreshore trail.
Council received $234,369 through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP) which has been used to leverage additional funds.
$70,000 will be directed to construction of the Pump Track and will be supported by $20,000 received from the Department of Human Services Youth-led COVID-19 Recovery Grants and administered by the Local Government Association of South Australia. The pump track will be completed by June 2021.
The development of multi-use trails in the Second Valley Forest will receive $130,000. This first phase will deliver a network of over 13km of marked multi-use trails. Toilet facilities and better carparking will improve the experience for existing visitors and provide the infrastructure required to develop cross-country and downhill trails in the future. Council is seeking additional State Government funding to add to the LRCIP funds.
Works will commence in February 2021 for the extension of the Carrickalinga foreshore trail from the corner of Broadbeach Drive to the walkway opposite 32 Gold Coast Drive. This work is fully funded through LRCIP and Council is applying to other programs to complete the extension through to the estuary at the corner of Riverview Drive.
