To plunge, or not to plunge? ❄️🤔

The cold plunge is the “it” trend of the decade, but if we’re being honest: it’s not for everyone, and it’s not for every goal.

Lately, we’ve heard a lot of hesitation—especially from our female members—regarding cortisol. It’s a valid conversation! And a few researchers have highlighted how “added stress” can impact women differently.

But here’s the missing piece of the puzzle:

1️⃣ Context is Queen: A 3-minute plunge is a temporary “stress” (just like a hard workout). For most, the massive dopamine reward (up to 250%!) and nervous system reset far outweigh the brief cortisol spike.

2️⃣ Bio-Feedback > Trends: There isn’t a study in the world that matters more than your own data. How do you feel 20 minutes after? How do you sleep that night? How are your energy levels the next day?

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before you’re due to run, with race briefings and warm-ups happening 5–10 minutes prior. Lay your kit out tonight, hydrate properly and get an early night. Calm head. Strong run. We’ll see you on the start line!

It’s race week! It's time to reduce stress where you can. Lower the volume, ease back the gym load and, if you can, dial down the life admin too. Keep moving daily with short walks, light mobility or relaxed jogs. Hydrate consistently (not just the day before) and add electrolytes if it’s warm. The goal right now isn’t to build fitness, it’s to protect it. See you Sunday! 👟
