Mosman Rowing Club

Mosman Rowing Club Mosman Rowing Club Est. 1911 The Mercantile boatshed was relocated to Mosman in 1911 marking the launch of Mosman Rowing Club under its current name.

Mosman Rowing Club is one of Australia’s oldest and most respected sporting institutions with a long and proud history spanning more than a century. Officially established in 1911 on the north shore of Sydney Harbour, Mosman Rowing Club grew out of Mercantile Rowing Club which operated at Dawes Point near Circular Quay from 1873 until 1911. The Club moved its rowing operations to The Spit in Middl

e Harbour in the 1950’s and in doing so gained access to one of the most spectacular urban waterways in the world. Mosman Rowing Club’s vitality is symbolised in its state-of-the-art new boathouse and gymnasium. Opened in 2008 the new boatshed, together with the original boatshed, provide facilities that meet the needs of all members as well as five major Sydney schools. With two boatsheds, two pontoons, a gymnasium, function centre, club room, offices, storage compounds, full disabled access (including the first disabled-access rowing pontoon in Australia) and access to a quality waterway, Mosman currently offers one of the most complete rowing environments currently available. Over the years Mosman Rowing Club has produced many of Australia’s most successful Olympic and international rowers, and the development of elite rowers remains the club’s primary purpose and focus. Mosman’s elite coaching team is led by Olympian's Matt & Judith Ungemach. Mosman Rowing Club is also home to Masters rowers who continue to represent Mosman Rowing Club in competition around Australia and overseas at all age and grade levels. Mosman is committed to the development of rowing as a sport and welcomes rowers of all ages and abilities. The Club’s Learn-to-Row and Recreational rowing programs are specifically designed for novice and beginner rowers.

What have our juniors been up to in lockdown?
While the seniors having been smashing out their self-directed training on the ergs, bikes and weights, our juniors have been keeping active showing off their skills and trying out some other sports. Our club is very lucky in that most of our members live in or within 10kms of the Northern Beaches LGA so we have all been enjoying the water and the beautiful local walks and riding tracks.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday Katie puts the rowers through their paces with HIIT and S+C workouts over Zoom and in between they have been competing in daily team challenges.
While we can’t wait to get back out on the water, we are making the most of lockdown and having plenty of fun along the way!

📣 NEW AUS RECORD 📣
Congratulations to .greyy on setting a new Australian record for the 5km ergo! On a windy and rainy Friday morning a few weeks ago the girls settled in for their first 5km piece and Imogen broke the previous record by one whole minute! 💪
Unfortunately her 2km record remains unverified as it was not set at an official event, but we’re sure there will be many others in future 😉
