Grab some friends and come and join in 5 FUN SWIM skills sessions at the Morwell Swimming Club!

Who: Learn to swim students aged 7-12 years.

What: Week one = Freestyle, Week two = Backstroke, Week three =
Breaststroke & Butterfly, Week four = Dives & Turns, Week five = Medley, Relays and Race Preparation.

When: 5:00pm till 6:00pm every Monday evening from October 7th to November 4th 2024 (5 weeks).

Where: Latrobe Leisure Morwell, McDonald Street Morwell.

Cost: Registration fee $22 per person and all participants receive a
participant pack! Existing Latrobe Leisure learn to swim students
receive free pool entry with your swim pass! Pool entry fees apply for non Latrobe Leisure learn to swim students.

Conditions: Participants must be able to swim 25m backstroke and 25m freestyle unassisted as our coaches will not be in the water for these sessions.

Entries for our Geoff Peterson Memorial Sprint Meet will remain open until Friday 2nd August 10pm. At this stage there are 51 swimmers entered. The meet will still be going ahead. Last call to get your entries in to have a chance at winning one of our lovely age group medallions!

It is with heavy hearts that the Morwell Swimming Club announces the passing of our esteemed Head Coach Geoff Peterson on Friday 12th April 2024. Geoff passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years.

Geoff joined the Morwell Swimming Club in 1992 and served as Head Coach for 23 years. After a short break, he again took on the position of Head Coach in 2018 for a further six seasons.

Geoff’s greatest memories of the Morwell Swimming Club included seeing the support our members gave to local competition throughout the seasons, the versatility of our swimmers in relay events and the club placing third highest club overall in boys points at the Victorian Country Championships in Albury 2005.

Geoff was awarded Life Membership to the Morwell Swimming Club in 2002.

Just last month, Geoff coached 3 of our club's 8 year old swimmers to win 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Gippsland Championships, and 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Victorian Country All Junior Championships.

We did it! After 2 years of lockdowns we have finally been able to resume our Geoff Peterson Sprint Meet. We couldn't have done it without all the support from Gippsland Swimming Inc Officials, our Morwell parent helpers and all our swimming community who volunteered to help us out today.

Thank you to our friends at East Gippsland Waterdragons, Warragul Swimming Club, Traralgon Swimming Club, Sale Swimming Club, South Gippsland Bass Swimming Club, and Moe Swimming Club. You all assisted us with timekeeping, marshalling, purchasing raffle tickets and lucky lollipops and by entering our events. Thank you for attending our meet and supporting our little club!

To our major sponsor Morwell Bowling Club, we thank you for your financial support so that we can continue to provide these opportunities for our swimmers.

Day 2 of the 2020 Gippsland Championships at Warragul Leisure Centre completed! This year our Championships team has grown to 12 qualifiers. Our 8&U swimmers have shown their strengths with 2 gold to Jayden (butterfly and freestyle), 1 bronze to Cheyanne (freestyle), and first time finalist Angela (backstroke). All swimmers are performing well!

The first swim meet at the Sale outdoor pool is over with a number of our swimmers reflecting on whether they were wise to be there and not tucked up in a warm bed. But having said that I was pleased in how they performed on the day. Jayden 7 years was swimming outdoor for the first time in fact was attempting his first 50m swims. His first swim was the 50m breaststroke where he achieved a time of 1.11:32 , But the swim we were waiting for was the 50 Butterfly. What an effort 1.00.32 for the first attempt. Great effort. What happened after that? He retired for the remainder of the day. Also swimming outdoor for the first time was Alice who swam all of her events where her performances were a credit to her training efforts. Her times Alices events were 50m Breaststroke 51.54s, 50m freestyle 41.36s and the 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:52.14. Well done Alice. Angela first event was the 50m Breaststroke in which she took 4.52s off her previous time. Angela finished the day with fine performances in the backstroke and freestyle events. Alexandra has continued on hr good performances from last season. With personal best times in 50m Breaststroke and 1st place, 50m Butterfly pb 2nd place, 50m Fr/s personal best and finally the 100m breaststroke 1st place. A good day Alex. John swam two personal best times on the day in 50m breaststroke and the 50m freestyle. Adam surprised us with a 15s improvement in 50m br/s.followed by 8s improvement in the backstroke. Meet 2 held at Leongatha on Sunday proved to be a happy hunting ground for our swim team. Amelia got the team off to a good start with a 7 second in her first event thus setting the standard for some great swimming. Amelia finished the day with a Pb in the 50m Freestyle. Anson kept the momentum going with 5 first placings and two personal best times. Jayden was our busiest swimmer with seven events.with placing in five of events and personal best times in 4 events. The largest improvement was 8 seconds in 100m IM.his highest placing was 1st in the 25m fly. Alexandra also produced a 8sec PB in the 100m Fr/s.Alex. Ended the day with 2 personal best times. Alice is improving each week which is great to see. From the three she produced 2 personal best times. Zoe made a great contribution to the team with her four swims. Adam gained a place in the 200m Br/s and valiant in his 5 individual efforts. Angela had 5 events on the day gaining a place in three.and produced two personal best times. A enjoyable day in Leongatha for Morwell Swimming Club
