Missing periods aren't always about pregnancy or menopause and they're definitely not something to brush off as "just exercising a lot."
If you're an active mum and you've noticed your cycle becoming irregular or disappearing altogether, it might be your body trying to tell you something.
One possible reason is something called hypothalamic amenorrhoea (HA). It can happen when your body is under ongoing stress, not getting enough fuel or simply not getting enough time to recover.
For many mums, it looks more like rushing out the door without breakfast, forgetting lunch because life got busy, juggling work, kids and everything else, then realising at the end of the day you've barely eaten enough to support yourself.
Your body is incredibly smart, when it senses that resources are limited, it prioritises the things it needs to keep you going day to day. Sometimes that means putting reproduction on the back burner for a while.
And while losing your period might seem like the main concern, it's often just one piece of the puzzle. Long-term hormone disruption can also affect your bone health, heart health, energy levels, recovery and even the results you're working so hard for in the gym.
If your cycle has changed, it's worth paying attention.
The more you understand what your body is telling you, the better equipped you are to support it ❤️
