After an almost 2 year break from bench and deads, Vicky is making a quiet comeback (to bench initially 😁deads will follow soon)….

But for the past 5 weeks we’ve been working on a completely new set up and position (going from heels up to flat foot)…and on Tues Vicky hit an all time new PB of 65kg!! Not just for 1, but for 2 singles 💪🏻🤩

Vicky made sure that despite her extended break from Bench, she still did accessories related to the lift to not lose strength, and in the past few weeks we then added in even more specific accessories, which has made her numbers jump very quickly to a new PB 💪🏻

Super excited to see her progress over the coming months and a not too far away return to Deads as well 🤞🏼

Leviathan Novice Comp 2025……
On Saturday Chris and I handled Pete and Michael in their 1st ever Comp.
Chris has been Coaching both men in the Leviathan 12 week Semi private program for some time, and 6 weeks out from Comp, they decided to enter!!
As Chris had never coached powerlifting (He’s Leviathan’s resident Strongman Guru!), I offered to help prep them and handle them on the day.
Not only was it great fun to jump in on some sessions with the boys and Chris, but on the day we all had an absolute blast!!

Michael had a phenomenal day, not only PB’ing all of his lifts, but also going 9/9!!!
Squat 130kg (5kg PB, after failing 130kg in training 2 weeks prior to comp)
Bench 80kg (5kg PB, after also failing 80kg in training 2 weeks prior to comp)
Dead 160kg (10kg PB)

Pete also had an excellent day, amazingly ALL of his opening lifts were new or equal PB’s!!! He went 7/9 as we overshot his 2nd and 3rd bench attempts (because his opener was ridiculously easy!)....
Squat 170kg (20kg PB)
Bench 100kg (Equal PB)
Dead 200kg (20kg PB)

I’m so proud of Pete and Michael stepping into the unknown, and looking forward to seeing where these boys go next in their lifting careers!
Thank you to Chris for including me in their journey to the platform! Our joint effort meant the boys came a long way in a very short 6 weeks!! It was such an awesome day.

Well done Ash for putting on a flawless Comp with behind the scenes help from Jack.
I loved being involved, not only as a handler, but volunteering in the running of the day as well.
Bring on the next Comp!

A few simple cues and getting a client to understand what’s happening in a lift = big gains.

Jye had his 1st technique session with me yesterday.
He had never deadlifted without back pain. Telling me his lower back hurt every time he did, and sometimes could be out for 3 weeks after I’m serious pain.

I watched him lift to see where there were breakdowns in technique and what could be improved. Jye’s technique wasn’t a disaster, he’d just been self taught as a lot of gym goers are.

I then gave him some cues to think about and ran through a couple of drills to help him better understand bracing.

In less than an hour Jye deadlifted 200kg completely pain free and a fair bit left in the tank! 🤩💪🏼 And checking in with him 24hours later, he’s got DOMS in all the right places, but best of all ZERO back pain! 🥳

Looking forward to tackling Jye’s squat and bench press (and continuing to improve his deadlift) in the coming weeks 💪🏼

🥳🥳 Huge shout out and congrats to Beo who unknown to both of us was in the running for National Records in the Raw/Sleeves division of WRPF!

Beo took out a total of 7 National Records for all 3 lifts and his total, across 2 different categories at his 1st WRPF Comp! 💪🏼💪🏼

What a fantastic surprise for both of us 😁🥂

Love reading comments and posts like these from my Athletes post Comp 🥹😍

Comp preps are brutal, and Comp days can throw up all sorts of unexpected curve balls.

Walking away with a positive attitude, lessons learned, and a desire to improve and do better is what makes me super proud as a Coach 🤩

Congratulations again and .mcmillan2 on great Comps 🥇🥉

4 months progress….

Week 1, 8 weeks in a moonboot making hard work of 5 reps ………
To last week back on the platform at GPC Nationals hitting 75kg and narrowly missing 80kg 🥹💪🏼

I can’t thank for taking on the hard task of not only prepping me for a comp after such an epic injury, but mostly agreeing to Coach a Coach from the same sport 🙊🩷

Despite still awaiting surgery on my leg and having to learn an entire new way of doing bench press, by some miracle I am now dangerously close to my all time 1RM!

Bring on the comeback kicking the s**t out of the set back 💪🏼🥹

Congratulations to Beo taking out 3rd in U100’s at the WRPF Competitive Edge showdown on the weekend 🥉💪🏼

Initially Beo had started Prep for a different Comp, but then made a snap decision to enter this Comp, which accelerated his Prep by 2 weeks 😁🙊 It was certainly challenging, but Beo came away with a new PB on both squat and bench and a podium finish!
Most impressively was his squat PB in sleeves of 30kg in 11 months!! 💪🏼🥳

Unfortunately Beo missed his 3rd bench, and then due to fatigue after an exceptionally long day, he missed his 2nd and 3rd Dead. But it was still a great end result regardless.

Squat 205kg (30kg PB in sleeves in 11 months!!)
Bench 132.5 (2.5kg PB)
Dead 210kg.
Total 547.5kg U100kg weight class

An enormous thank you to .Ryan for offering to handle Beo on Comp Day as I was away competing. What an unbelievably generous thing to do 🩷🥹

Looking forward to Beo’s next Comp at the end of the year! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

🤩Yet another Comp done and dusted for Trudy, competing in TJMES GPC Nationals 💪🏼

Prepping with an online Coach is always challenging, but Trudy always does me proud with her dedication to the end result.

Unfortunately Trudy didn’t hit the 3rd squat and Bench that we planned.

However she set a new National and World record for her deadlift, AND a new National and World record for her overall total 🩷🥳💪🏼

Squat 85kg
Bench 47.5kg
Dead 121kg (new NR and WR)
Total 253.5kg (new NR and WR)
bw and 59 years young 😉

Huge congratulations on another successful Comp Trudes! Looking forward to the next one! 💪🏼

🔥 Make the most of what you’ve got and don’t dwell on what you don’t.

5 months post epic leg injury which resulted in a large L shaped fracture and 7 tears to ligaments and tendons in my lower leg and ankle 😢

8 weeks completely off setting foot in the gym at all to Coach or train.

4 weeks to re- establish a basic level of coaching and training upper body only.

Then 6 weeks ago I decided I had to put this upper body only restriction to good use and train for a Bench Only entry at GPC Nationals.

Thank you Jack for the brutal programming 😆😎 Already the numbers gains and muscle gains are blowing me away 💪🏼💪🏼

I wish I had the foresight to take a pic in week 1 🙄….these pics are @ week 3 and week 6 😱……

7 weeks and counting 🙊💪🏼🔥

💪🏼💪🏼 Super proud of Beo at the Inaugral APL Hobart Cup!

Beo had a challenging prep with me as his face to face Coach 4 times a week, suddenly breaking my leg and switching to online in only week 2 of Comp Prep!

But he battled on with the help of the amazingly supportive members at Leviathan - special mention to Dan for wrapping Beo prior to and on Comp Day ❤️💖

And despite the challenges, Beo hit some new PB’s and place 2nd overall out of all the male competitors 🥳💪🏼🥈 Amazing effort!!

Squat PB a whopping 22.5kg @ 202.5kg
Bench PB 5kg @ 130kg
Equal Dead PB @ 220kg (unfortunately missing the 3rd attempt of 230kg)

Now to switch gears a little for some new style training before his next Comp 😁😁
