TUT - otherwise known as ‘time under tension’ 💪🏼
This is in relation to how much time the muscle being worked is put under stress! So if you want to make the most of your training sessions (if hypertrophy is your main goal) - keep on reading! 👇🏼
✖️ Don’t rush your reps! I mean realllyyy slow it down. Feel the muscle working not just during the concentric & contraction part of the movement, but the eccentric part too. This is where you can really take your time and feel the muscle being stretched.
✖️ Drop the weight! If you find yourself relying on momentum to get you through a certain movement, it’s a clear indication that you’re lifting a weight that’s too heavy. Leave the ego at the front door and lower the weight.
✖️ Incorporate tempo! You can see in the video I control the weight during the eccentric part of the row over a 2-3 second count. This is a great way to really feel that muscle working all while optimising TUT!
