Rich River Croquet Club

Rich River Croquet Club Rich River Croquet Club has around 55 members and we are always pleased to welcome visitors. Practice from 11am then names in by 12.30pm for 1pm comp.

Three kinds of Croquet are played:

• Association Croquet is played Wednesdays and Saturdays. from April till the end October. From November to end March 9.00 a.m. for 9.30 comp start. Golf Croquet players are welcome to practice on both Association days.

• Golf Croquet is played Tuesdays and Thursdays. Names in by 9am for 9.30am start.

• Kingball is played once a month

ub has 4 'A' courts and another that can be prepared for special events. The Club is located behind the Bowling Club adjacent to the driving range. Lessons are available all year round. Rich River Golf Croquet - Tuesday 1/09/2026

The first day of Spring was just perfect for playing Doubles Croquet with eighteen players enjoying the weather and the friendly competition between players. Three players won all three games; Sandra Retallick, John Quayle and Darren McLoughlin. The winner was Darrin McLoughlin scoring 3 games +13 hoops, and the Runner-up was John Quayle scoring 3 games +7 hoops. John Hill was in fine form making a successful Jump Shot that won his game much to his opponents dismay.

Rich River Golf Croquet - Thursday 27/08/2026

Seventeen people played Singles Croquet this morning, including four visitors, two from Sandringham and two from Horsham. With four players winning all 3 games; Leon Koch, Doc Ryant, Russell Clarke, David Budge and Garry. The Winner was decided on a count-back with Leon Koch taking first place and Doc Ryant declared Runner-up. All four players were in fine form, but congratulations goes to Leon and Doc.

Fourteen players, including three visitors David and Jill Budge from Sandringham and Terry from Bendigo competed at Croquet this morning. The visitors were in fine form with David and Jill Budge winning all three of their games. The Winner was David Budge scoring 3 games + 10 hoops and the Runner-up was Jill Budge scoring 3 games +7 hoops.

Pennant – Thursday 27/08/2026

The first game of the pennant season saw the Rich River Kangas playing the Kyabram Blue Wrens. RR Kanga’s team included Cherie Lessing, Sandra Retallick, Helen Brierley and Michael Hawkins playing against the Blue Wren’s Shane Russell, Barney McDonald, Bryden Edis and Thelma O’Keefe.

The first Single games played saw Rich River Kanga’s take the lead with 4 games 28 hoops to the Kyabram Wrens 22 hoops. The second Single matches saw the RR Kanga’s strengthen the lead with another 4 games 28 hoops to the Kyabram Blue Wrens 8 hoops. The Kyabram Blue Wrens rallied in the Doubles matches winning 3 of the 4 games. Scoring 3 games 27 hoops against the Rich River Kanga’s 1 game 22 hoops. In the end the Kangas triumphed 9 games 78 hoops to 3 games 67 hoops.

Rich River Croquet Club Annual Charity Day– Tuesday 18/08/2026

Twenty eight players played in the Rich River Croquet Club Annual Charity Day with all proceeds going to the Echuca Neighbourhood House. Everyone enjoyed the social event and the weather was lovely even if a bit cold to start with. Players played four games during the day, two before lunch and two afterwards. Players who made Jump Shots throughout the day were Loretta Gawne, Fay Hawker, Trevor Peters, John James and Sandra Retallick, each received a pen as an award. The Winner of the event was Mavis Peters the only player to win all four games. Trevor Crane President of the Echuca Neighbourhood House came and thanked the Rich River Croquet Club for donating the dried food items that members donated and the money raised from the day’s event. He spoke on how important it was to the community as there are many people in need. Sandra Retallick, President Rich River Croquet Club thanked the Rich River Golf Club who donated the green fees to the Charity Day and everyone for attending and making the annual event enjoyable for all.

It was a cool morning with 15 members playing Doubles Croquet. Two players won all 3 games; Sandra Retallick Rich River and Darren McLoughlin Wagga. Congratulations to the Winner Sandra Retallick scoring 3 games +12 hoops, and the Runner-up Darren McLoughlin scoring 3 games +10 hoops.
