The last of our meet the team! Meet the owners Laura and Shane + mini owners Billie and Ted.
1. What got you into fitness?
Shane: I played sport all my childhood and started going to the gym when I was 15, it just grew from there.
Laura: I used to have to walk from school to meet my Mum at the gym. I was hanging for my 14th birthday so I could start using the equipment.
2. What do you love most about coaching at Impact?
Shane: I love programming a “you go, I go” on a Saturday morning and seeing members partner up and push each other through a tough workout.
Laura: I love taking the odd Saturday class and putting the members through their paces! I love the community at Impact, how everyone encourages one another and welcomes anyone.
3. What do you want members to feel after your session?
Shane: Motivated, happy and fulfilled so they come back.
Laura: Accomplished. I love programming a session that feels crap when you’re doing it, but you’re proud you stuck it out when it’s done.
4. Biggest gym ick?
Shane: Someone who sacrifices form to chase “the burn.”
Laura: Slamming pin-loaded weights or staring.
5. Coffee order?
Shane: Skinny cap.
Laura: Small skinny cap or long black.
6. Most used coaching phrase?
Shane: “Let’s finish it off guys” (with miles left on the clock)
Laura: Probably “you’ll survive” when someone complains
7. How would you describe your coaching style in 3 words?
Shane: Hard, educated, fun.
Laura: Enthusiastic, structured and fun (hopefully lol).
8. Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Shane: “Action is the foundational key to all success.”
Laura: “Fall forward” meaning, don’t have a Plan B to fall back on. If you fall forward, you have no choice other than to make it work out.
9. What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
Shane/Laura: We sold our house to chase our dreams.
10. What’s one thing you’re currently working on improving?
Shane: Our businesses (always).
Laura: Not being a control freak.
